Seann Walsh disclosed that his phone was snatched directly out of his hand in London, not long after another Strictly contestant had been pickpocketed.
The humorist, aged 39, mentioned that a thief stole his gadget around a week back, and based on Find My iPhone, it is currently located in China.
29-year-old professional dancer Michelle Tsiakkas found herself a victim of daylight robbery in London this week, leaving her feeling frightened and powerless.
After his recent experience, Seann posted a screenshot from his phone’s location to his Instagram Story on Sunday. The message read: ‘My phone was taken from me (yes, snatched right out of my hand and yes, I reside in London) around a week back, and it is now in China if anyone happens to be traveling there.’
In response to Seann, a follower expressed interest and requested that he consider writing a book detailing events from his personal experiences.
They suggested: ‘I deeply apologize for your lost phone and kindly request you to compile a book chronicling all the extraordinary events in your life, titled something like ‘Only Happens to Me.’
Seann mentioned, “If any publishers here are interested, I’d be open to the idea, but let me warn you – it would be an extensive book. I’ve tentatively titled it ‘Typical.’
In London’s West End, an alarming number of 37 mobile phones are being stolen daily, setting a new record for phone theft incidents.
Over the last four years, it’s been found that approximately 231,000 instances of phone theft or robbery occurred in the capital, marking a staggering triple rise.
The heart of these audacious thefts lies within London’s bustling stage hub, known as the West End – a city attracting thousands of tourists. Over the same timeframe, approximately 40,000 mobile phones were reported missing to the Metropolitan Police, according to their data.
michelle, a skilled dancer, was heading to the dentist quite early one morning when someone grabbed her phone along the way.
Michelle mentioned in her video, “It’s been a few days now, but I’m almost back to normal mentally. On that day, it was incredibly distressing.
Spending an entire day on something left me feeling terrible, afraid, powerless, and I hope you won’t have to experience that misery.
She conveyed: ‘Someone stole my phone. It’s something I’ve seen happen often, but I never thought it would happen to me. Yet here we are.’
Michelle, having been with Strictly for three years now, shared an incident where she was in Covent Garden when someone riding a bicycle snatched her phone from her.
As the sun peeked over the horizon, I found myself venturing towards a dental appointment in bustling London. The route led me through Covent Garden, making the normally crowded streets eerily tranquil at that early hour.
It seems like I might have been the only one nearby, making me potentially an easier target. To figure out where my dentist’s office was located, I quickly pulled out my phone to check the directions.
As I stood on the very street where the dentist was located, an unexpected incident occurred. A man whizzed by on a bicycle, zooming past me and snatching my phone in the process.
He took my phone while he was riding an electric bike. This caused my heart to drop. I tried to reach for it, but ended up falling on my knees and scraping my knee.
It seemed instinctive for me to curse and shout, demanding you return my phone. But I guess it’s obvious that tactic didn’t yield results.
When I asked you to give me back my phone, I reacted by swearing and shouting. However, it’s clear now that approach didn’t work.
He swiftly departed, his face hidden behind a mask. With such speed on an electric bicycle, it was impossible for me to catch a glimpse of him or even manage to keep pace.
Fortunately, there were two kind and assistive ladies present who noticed I seemed troubled.
