Summary

  • Artist Sean Wotherspoon reimagines a vintage Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS in a bold, color-blocked livery
  • Interior features vintage Levi’s denim, flannel, cork and corduroy, hand-stitched by Meyers Manx’s team
  • Inspired by his love for VW Harlequin designs and built with Philip Sarofim and Stuff by Spot

Sean Wotherspoon, through Type 7, unveiled his new creative blend of art and automobiles: a vibrant and nostalgic transformation of a Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS into a mobile artwork. Inspired by his past admiration for Harlequin Golfs and his profound link to vintage fashion, the artist, renowned for his patchwork Air Max 97s and color-blocked Taycan, created this masterpiece.

Under the guidance of collector Philip Sarofim and creative direction from Jimmy Howson’s Stuff by Spot, this unique project offers a fresh take on the iconic RS model. The exterior color scheme is reminiscent of Meyers Manx, with a bold “Old Red” accent on the hood. The interior design is equally daring, made entirely from vintage Levi’s denim, flannel, and corduroy from the 1960s to the 1990s. A remnant cork dashboard from Wotherspoon’s Taycan collaboration serves as a focal point. The door cards feature practical Levi’s pockets, while every panel and stitch pays homage to the car’s history.

According to Wotherspoon, the aim is to incorporate a lot of vibrant colors in a fashion that stimulates interest. He spent eight months carefully selecting pieces for this project, which made its street debut in Los Angeles and immediately caught people’s attention. Wotherspoon also mentioned, “Nature isn’t criticized for being colorful, and I wanted to bring the same captivating beauty of nature onto the road with this project.
