Robert Whittaker’s manager claims Sean Strickland turned down UFC 305 fight
According to Titus Day, manager of former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker, Sean Strickland opted not to face Whittaker at UFC 305. As Day explained to Submission Radio, “Sean seems to be adopting a very different approach by simply waiting it out.” It appears that Strickland may have a legitimate claim for the title, but Whittaker is ready to fight. Fighting is how he earns his living. Immediately after their last fight in Riyadh, they asked us if Whittaker wanted to fight Strickland in Perth. We said yes, and it seems that Strickland declined. So, that’s the story.
It’s no surprise that Strickland declined the fight; he thinks he deserves the next title challenge and isn’t willing to risk losing one in the interim. However, his inactivity might come back to haunt him later. If Whittaker secures a win or an impressive knockout, he could find himself in contention for the next title shot, potentially overshadowing Strickland.
The UFC 306 commentary team has beet set
At UFC 306, you’ll hear from Jon Anik, Daniel Cormier, and Joe Rogan during the commentary. Din Thomas will pop in occasionally to share his insights as well.
At UFC 306, they’re aiming to create an unforgettable experience, and having three of the UFC’s top commentators on the broadcast really reinforces that. While I might have preferred Michael Bisping over Joe Rogan for this particular event, it makes sense why Rogan was chosen for such a major spectacle.
Khamzat Chimaev reveals strange addiction
Darren Till and Khamzat are pure comedy
“We need to take the belt back for the normal people”💀😂
— MMA CHICK🧜🏼♀️ (@MMACHICK_) September 8, 2024
In a recent Twitter conversation, Kjamzat Chimaev accused Darren Till of causing his weight miss. “Before I encountered you, I never missed weight,” Chimaev said to Till. “Since we met, you eat chocolate daily, and it was hard for me to resist as well.” He continued, “You lack discipline, brother, which is why our paths have diverged. Now you’re in Liverpool. Don’t deny it, man. You drink beer every day, man. A bad influence.
Chimaev was likely joking (as we assume), but watching these two fighters banter was delightful. Take a look at the video up there, it’s quite amusing.
