The acclaimed British drama Anemone, featuring Sean Bean and Daniel Day-Lewis, is now available for home viewing. Its strong performances and emotional story make it a must-see for fans of the genre.
This movie marks the directorial debut of Ronan Day-Lewis, and stars three-time Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis as Ray Stoker, a man living in isolation who reconnects with his long-lost brother, Jem (played by Bean).
Despite a difficult history between them, Jem tries to persuade Ray to come out of his isolated life in the woods and rejoin his family, but Ray struggles to open up and reconnect.

I finally got around to watching this drama – it came out in theaters last month after premiering back in September. It stars Samantha Morton and Samuel Bottomley, and the best part is, I didn’t even have to leave my couch to see it!
You can buy or rent the film Anemone on Amazon and Apple TV. Buying it costs £19.99, and renting costs £15.99. It’s available in Standard, High, or Ultra-High Definition.

While Daniel Day-Lewis and Sean Bean received praise for their acting, the movie itself got a mixed reaction from critics. Currently, Rotten Tomatoes gives it an approval rating of 53% based on 132 reviews.
Empire Magazine gave the film a four-star review, calling it a moving story about fathers and sons, created by a father-son team. The review also highlighted both a well-established talent and the emergence of a promising new one.
The Daily Beast agreed, noting that while the film’s bold choices aren’t always successful, it powerfully portrays both physical and emotional hardship, focusing on the damaging effects of violence on families and generations. They also praised the lead actor’s outstanding performance.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the two lead actors work wonderfully together. Rowan Atkinson is understated, responsive, and naturally funny, while Daniel Day-Lewis delivers the brilliant performance everyone expects, with every movement and expression carefully considered and full of purpose.
However, Vulture offered a different perspective, stating that the biggest issue with Anemone is its lack of focus. Despite its interesting visuals and themes of inherited trauma, the film felt sprawling and lacked the precision it needed to truly succeed.
Anemone is now available to buy or rent on Amazon and Apple TV.
The latest issue of Living Legends is out now, and it’s dedicated to the incredible Dolly Parton! You can find a copy of ‘Dolly at 80’ in newsagents or order it online for only £8.99.
