The new show, *Original Gangsters with Sean Bean*, starts Tuesday, November 4th at 9pm on Sky History and History Play. New episodes will air every Tuesday at the same time.
The first episode of this series starts by exploring the true story behind the Peaky Blinders, the notorious gang who controlled Birmingham from the late 1800s to the early 1900s. It reveals the history that inspired the popular BBC drama of the same name.

The first episode will include insights from Carl Chinn, a renowned authority on Birmingham’s criminal history and the Peaky Blinders gang.
This episode explores the gritty underbelly of Birmingham, starting in the 1860s with its maze-like streets and violent clashes between gangs and the police. It then shows how these street gangs evolved in the early 20th century, becoming more organized and eventually uniting under the leadership of Billy Kimber.
The second episode explores the life of Al Capone, 78 years after his death. It delves into the story of the notorious gangster, known as ‘Scarface,’ and his time at Alcatraz prison. The episode features never-before-heard insights from the Capone family and a look at his personal life.

This third part of the story focuses on Stephanie St Clair, known as the Queen of Harlem. It shows how she rose to power in the 1920s, fiercely controlling the illegal numbers game in Harlem.
The fourth episode examines the Kray twins and Billy Hill, London’s first “Gentleman Gangster,” detailing how these two infamous criminal groups gained power through violence and the impact they left behind.
After World War II, in London, Ronnie Hill quickly rose to power. His combination of charisma and ruthlessness during the 1940s and 50s allowed him to dominate gambling, extortion, and the criminal underworld of Soho.
So, the sixties hit, and these guys, the Krays, just exploded onto the scene. They were famous, everyone knew their names, but underneath it all, they were seriously dangerous and wanted everything.
Original Gangsters with Sean Bean starts Tuesday 4 November at 9pm on Sky History and History Play.
