Over the course of its seven seasons, the television show SEAL Team vividly portrayed the authenticities of war and life as a Navy SEAL. The series didn’t flinch from depicting some of the toughest aspects of service, including the sacrifice of putting one’s life at risk for their nation. Notably, it illustrated that not every SEAL returns home safely. Nevertheless, not all deaths occurred in combat zones; some affected civilians back home or happened during training exercises.

Throughout the seventh season of SEAL Team, we were shocked by several unexpected character deaths. The writers chose to portray the authenticity of a SEAL’s life and that of a veteran, providing few hints about these untimely demises. Despite this, one can never predict when accidents might occur, causing us to question everyone’s safety, even the main characters of SEAL Team.

10. Alana Hayes

Home Isn’t Always The Safest Place in SEAL Team

In starting this list, we find Alana Hayes, the spouse of Jason Hayes, who is a SEAL. The families of these brave individuals are all too familiar with the risk that their loved ones might not return. Unfortunately, the Hayes family had to face this reality more than once, and they dreaded the uncertainty of whether any given moment would be their last together. What no one could have anticipated was the untimely death of someone from home, a tragedy that we were unprepared to experience so traumatically.

In a shocking twist during the second episode of season 2 in the series ‘SEAL Team’, it’s revealed that Jason receives a call about Alana being in an accident. Tragically, she was hit by a drunk driver and did not survive. The skillful storytelling and direction in this particular episode intensified the tension and sorrow, as we witnessed Jason shatter emotionally in unprecedented ways.

9. Clay Spenser

Clay Deserved A Life With His Family

Reflecting on the numerous close calls with death that Clay encountered during his time on SEAL Team, we were taken aback by his untimely demise. Despite facing harrowing experiences, such as losing a limb, he found a means to overcome the mental darkness and aid others. The impact of Clay’s passing in SEAL Team served as a stark reminder that not only those directly engaged in war zone missions risk their lives, and it left a deep impression on Jason during the final season of the series.

In a previous part of the series, Clay had experienced something akin to what Ben was going through, mentally struggling. Given this connection, it wasn’t unexpected that he would make an effort to save Ben from a similar destiny. However, just as things seemed promising, a security guard intervened without understanding the circumstances. Acting on instinct, the guard perceived Clay as a threat and unfortunately, in the heat of the moment, Clay lost his life. This unfortunate turn of events meant that Clay’s decision to leave his job for family time was ultimately futile.

8. Hannah Parsons

A Look At How Innocent Civilians Are Hurt

In the early stages of “SEAL Team”, the narrative aimed to create an atmosphere where no one was immune, and Hannah Parsons’ tale embodied this perfectly. She was a humanitarian worker in Sudan who had evaded Richard Crowley but found herself in danger once more. While trying to flee, she and her driver were stopped at a checkpoint, where they were suddenly attacked.

7. Brian Armstrong

A Training Event Gone Wrong

In everyday language: Incidents occur frequently, but it’s uncommon for a training mishap to be fatal. The latest shocking death within the SEAL Team occurred in the same episode as Hannah’s. Typically, accidents lead to people changing professions or needing time away from work. As we followed Clay Spenser and Brian Armstrong during their training exercises, it seemed likely that both would move on to their new platoons or possibly get dismissed from the elite squad. However, at no point did we truly anticipate that Brian wouldn’t survive his training.

In mid-air, Brian leapt from his aircraft, only for his parachute to malfunction, leaving everyone in shock as the tragic event unfolded. A flicker of optimism emerged when there seemed to be a chance that a backup chute might deploy, potentially sparing him at the very last instant. However, this hope proved futile, and the story played out as expected. Although incidents like these are regrettably common, they’re seldom discussed, making Brian’s passing all the more poignant given his exceptional military career and the bright future he deserved.

6. Brett Swann

The Traumatic Life Of A Vet

Although it was distressing, the portrayal of Brett “Swanny” Swann’s death in SEAL Team was equally heart-wrenching. It left me uncertain if the show would continue in this direction. Given my military background, I noticed numerous indicators suggesting that Brett might consider taking his life. Yet, I held on to the hope that someone could intervene and provide him with necessary help before it was too late.

This instance was heart-wrenching, yet it underscored the significance of SEAL Team remaining on television. Clay came to understand the flaws within the system, witnessing how veterans were overlooked when seeking aid at the VA clinic, a result of poor practices during their military service. As every doctor fell short in treating Brett, Clay was powerless to intervene until it was too late. We could only stare in disbelief as Clay futilely attempted to save him.

5. Ross Curtis

A Final Shocking Death In SEAL Team

In my opinion, during the climactic season of SEAL Team, there lingered an intriguing mystery concerning Ross Curtis’ true allegiances. He spun a tale of being a Drug Enforcement Administration informant, yet by the second-to-last episode, we discovered he was in fact a traitor. Ross Curtis’ narrative was instrumental in shaping Jason’s concluding journey in SEAL Team season 7, as it poignantly depicted the devastating impact that taking lives for one’s country can have on an individual’s conscience.

It’s understandable that we anticipated Jason might avenge Curtis’ betrayal in the final episode of the SEAL Team series by taking his life. But, instead of carrying out the act, Jason found himself unable and began to leave. This scenario would’ve left him accountable for disobeying orders. Amazingly, it was Drew who ended up killing Curtis, sparing Jason from bearing additional guilt.

4. Scott “Full Metal” Carter

The First Major Loss In The Show

In the TV series SEAL Team, some deaths resonate more deeply than others, and Full Metal’s was particularly tough on us. He was a cherished member of Bravo Team, and it seemed impossible that anything would befall him amidst the turmoil of a war zone. Although his death came as a shock, it felt authentic, and I must say, it’s something I will forever admire about SEAL Team.

One aspect that rendered this death particularly startling was that it marked the first instance of a long-standing member of the squad meeting their end. Although the series had begun with the demise of Bravo Team’s Nate Massey, we didn’t have much opportunity to get to know him well. Given the tight bond among Bravo Team members by this stage in the series, it seemed almost unthinkable that one of them would be written off, and unfortunately, it was due to shrapnel from an RPG explosion that led to this heart-wrenching event. The terror Full Metal experienced in his final moments added a chilling dimension to his passing.

3. Nicole Marsden

Bravo Team Can’t Save Everyone

In the third season of SEAL Team, Clay’s trust in military politics began to wane. This changed when he encountered U.S. Ambassador Nicole Marsden, who was under Bravo Team’s protection and extraction in a war zone. Unlike someone who would shy away from conflict, Nicole was actively engaged in protecting those around her, even politically.

Initially, it appeared as though Nicole wouldn’t survive the ambush at the compound. However, her miraculous survival raised hopes that she might return to the United States safely. Unfortunately, if not for her decision to make a phone call in an attempt to establish peace between the warring tribes in Yemen, she may have made it out alive. A devastating moment came when a missile struck the building she was in. Though she initially survived the impact, she ultimately succumbed to her injuries before medical help arrived.

2. Adam Seaver

A Shocking But Heroic Death

unexpected deaths aren’t always caused by accidents or random projectiles. Some of the deaths portrayed in SEAL Team were predictable, yet their outcomes remained uncertain. The surprising aspect of Adam Seaver’s death lay in the dramatic and symbolic way his story was presented, reminding us of the beginning. During a mission, it was evident that an injury or even a fatality might occur, but the manner in which events transpired caught our attention.

Earlier, Adam had disagreed with Clay about Clay’s hasty actions during training, even calling him out for shielding a grenade instead of it being a heroic deed. It was quite unexpected when, in a later situation, Adam himself did something similar, as a suicide bomber charged towards Bravo Team. Despite their previous disagreement, Adam and Clay had gained mutual respect by then, and this event proved to be another tragic incident that left a lasting impact on Clay throughout the series.

What A Way To Start The Series

When TV productions aim to convey that any character could meet an untimely end, they often choose to eliminate a popular one. In the case of SEAL Team, this is exactly what occurred. Fans of The Originals were eagerly anticipating Daniel Gillies’ return to our screens, but his appearance was limited and unsatisfying, primarily in the series premiere. Although he did resurface through flashbacks later on, it didn’t quite live up to fans’ expectations.

Nate Massey’s death served as a harsh reminder of the brutal nature of war, catching Jason off guard. He hadn’t anticipated learning that his friend had been wounded during their rush to the boat, and it wasn’t until he noticed blood on Nate’s leg that he understood something was amiss. This tragic event significantly influenced Jason’s character arc throughout the first season of SEAL Team.
