Scriptly come cringing! Judges grumble at 'overproduced' and 'woke' pre-written lines that rein in even Craig's acid tongue

As a lifestyle expert with decades of experience in the entertainment industry, I must say that the latest developments in Strictly Come Dancing have left me somewhat perplexed and a tad amused. The BBC’s decision to script some of the judges’ comments seems like an attempt to cater to a younger demographic, but it appears to have backfired spectacularly.

The straightforward, sometimes sharp critiques by the Strictly judges on the contestants’ acts have consistently added to the program’s charm.

This year, the BBC aims to entice more youthful spectators by penning certain judge’s remarks for the initial time.

Moreover, The Mail on Sunday discloses that the recent decision hasn’t been met with approval by the panel of judges, which comprises Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke, Craig Revel Horwood, and Motsi Mabuse.

Sources say they complain the scripted lines are ‘cringe,’ ‘overproduced’ and at times ‘woke’.

A remark that drew specific critique from viewers was Mabuse’s comment on JB Gill and Amy Dowden’s dance during week three: “You two are improving with each dance, much like an irresistible box of chocolates becoming more delicious every time.

In a way that some found overly sensitive or politically correct, Ms. Mabuse told former athlete Montell Douglas, “Having visited India and Africa, we’re now here in the Caribbean. It seems like everyone is being represented.

Viewers have also noticed that Revel Horwood has been less abrasive this series.

A secret source informed The Mail on Sunday: “The judges believe that the remarks they’re instructed to make sound overly scripted.

‘It has been raised and is beginning to cause a problem.’

During Saturday’s performance, all attention was focused on Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola as they gracefully danced the American Smooth to the tune of Heather Small’s Proud.

For Ms. Hadland, the tune carries a personal significance since her character Stevie frequently sang it on the show Miranda.

To kick off the performance, Tasha Ghouri and Aljaz Skorjanec dazzled the crowd and judges with a lively quickstep choreographed to Mariah Carey’s Fantasy, leaving everyone in awe.
