Screen legend who is one half of oldest living married couple in Hollywood makes rare outing at 96

A famous Hollywood actor, who with his wife is the longest-married couple in the industry, was recently seen out and about in Los Angeles. It’s unusual to see him in public, making this a special sighting.

I can’t believe it, but my favorite actress is 96 years old! What’s even more incredible is that she and her husband have been married for over 74 years! She was only 18 when they got married back in 1951. It’s just such a beautiful, long-lasting love story.

They shared a strong connection both off and on camera, famously portraying a married couple in multiple projects, including the popular show Boy Meets World.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’ve always admired versatile talent, and this actress definitely has it! You might recognize her from classics like Little House on the Prairie and films like Twins and Shiloh. But her incredible range extends to more dramatic roles – she was fantastic in Sleeping with the Devil and, more recently, Better Call Saul. And if you’re a fan of television history, you probably remember her award-winning performance in St. Elsewhere – she actually took home two Emmys for that role! It’s a career that really showcases dedication and skill.

On Wednesday, she was seen enjoying a bit of solo time as she ran errands in Los Angeles.

Can you guess who this icon is?

If you guessed Bonnie Bartlett Daniels, you are correct!

This Hollywood legend was spotted running errands seemingly by herself in Los Angeles.

The star chose a relaxed and comfortable outfit for her spring day – a white button-down shirt, tan pants, and a crossbody bag.

Bonnie wasn’t accompanied by her husband, William Daniels, though he famously portrayed her on-screen partner in three different shows and movies.

The couple married on June 30, 1951, and interestingly, they later portrayed each other’s husbands and wives in the TV shows Boy Meets World and St. Elsewhere.

She worked on numerous television shows throughout her career, including popular series like Home Improvement, Parks and Recreation, Grey’s Anatomy, and Touched by an Angel.

The last time she played Helen was on Better Call Saul in 2017, and she hasn’t appeared in any other acting roles since then.

Bonnie and actor William Daniels have been married since 1951 and are proud parents of three children and grandparents to four grandchildren.

Despite appearing to be a very stable couple, they actually experimented with an open marriage when they first got together. However, she ended the arrangement because it proved too difficult for her to manage.

Bonnie, married to William Daniels—who famously portrayed Mr. Feeny on the 90s TV show Boy Meets World—explained that open marriages were fairly common during their time, and they knew several other couples who practiced them.

The actress and William, now 98, married in 1951 and remained a couple for decades. However, Bonnie revealed in 2023 that their open marriage caused her significant pain, ultimately leading her to ask William to change their relationship arrangement.

Bonnie married William when she was just 18 years-old and had never dated anybody else.

She explained to Fox that their relationship initially had some elements of an open marriage, but it caused a lot of hurt and ultimately didn’t work. She added that experimenting with that kind of arrangement was common at the time.

New York at that time was a very liberated place, with a vibrant and uninhibited social scene.

I’m not sure if everyone was fully dedicated, and that’s concerning. There was a lot of hurt and difficulty associated with any infidelity or mistakes made outside the relationship.

I was so moved by the recent news from this incredible star! With the release of her memoir, Middle of the Rainbow, she shared that her biggest hope for the book is that it will really capture and document what it’s been like to be a woman throughout history. It’s a powerful goal, and I think she’s absolutely nailed it.

Oh my gosh, in her book, Bonnie basically admitted she was already looking for someone else so early in her marriage to William! She said she was searching for a man who was just… nicer, gentler. It’s heartbreaking, honestly, to read that she wasn’t finding what she needed in him right from the start. I mean, can you imagine?! It just proves everything I’ve always suspected about their relationship!

In 1959, Bonnie revealed she had a brief, several-month-long affair. She described her lover as a somewhat dull actor, but admitted they had a good physical connection.

‘I never felt guilty because I never felt tied to fidelity, and neither did Bill,’ she said.

Bonnie said that William started a relationship with a producer in the early 1970s, which deeply upset her.

After that experience, she said she ‘could no longer tolerate any kind of open marriage.’

Bonnie wrote that she thought their marriage was ‘doomed’ after that affair.

Bill and I took things one day at a time, and those days eventually turned into a lifetime together,” she wrote. “We’ve shared both happy and sad moments, but somehow managed to stay together for seven decades.

It was a difficult time for both of us, but something we needed to experience,” the actress explained. “I was only 18 when we started dating, and Bill was my first love. We worked through everything, and despite the pain, we’ve always deeply cared for each other.

We’ve always supported each other, and that’s the most important thing. Being there for someone you care about – respecting their journey and offering help along the way – is what truly matters. Ultimately, you need to face life’s challenges together.
