As a die-hard fan of horror movies and baking shows, I am beyond thrilled about Prime Video’s upcoming two-part special, “Killer Cakes.” The prospect of seeing Matthew Lillard, known for his iconic roles in Scream and Five Nights at Freddy’s, hosting a show that combines my two favorite passions is nothing short of a dream come true.
Get ready for even more Halloween-themed baking shows! Amazon Prime Video has unveiled images of their upcoming two-part special titled “Killer Cakes“, starring Matthew Lillard from “Scream” and “Five Nights at Freddy’s”. This special will also see the participation of Halloween actress Danielle Harris as a host, along with food artist and cookbook author Nikk Alcaraz (from “Peculiar Baking“) as co-host.
It seems that “Killer Cakes” would make a delightful addition to Halloween celebrations, particularly appealing to fans who enjoy Food Network’s scary programming lineup. Notably, this includes the comeback of fan favorites such as the “Halloween Baking Championship”, “Outrageous Pumpkins”, and “Halloween Wars”.
Originating from the production houses of Blumhouse Television and High Noon Entertainment, known for producing the hit series “Cake Boss”, comes a thrilling baking contest where bakers are tasked to craft both horrifyingly delicious treats that will push their abilities to the limit.
Contestants will work with the best horror special effects artists in Hollywood to unleash their twisted imaginations and create cakes so disgusting, so disturbing, and so realistic, it’s the stuff of nightmares.
In the new role, Ruth Amsel will take charge as the lead creative director for the show. Previously, she has held the position of executive producer on series such as Halloween Wars, Cake Wars, and Outrageous Pumpkins.

Meet the contestants:
- Amanda Yother: Rathdrum, ID
- Dillon Barlow: Houston, TX
- Dziedra “Z” Brusberg: Marysville, WA
- Deadra “Dee” Compean: Beaumont, TX
- Eszter Summerlin: Gulf Breeze, FL
- Jesse Lesser: Dallas, TX
- Mark Lie: Chicago, IL
- Shanelle Long: Pensacola, FL
Horror enthusiasts primarily recognize Danielle Harris for her roles within the Halloween series, where she portrayed Jamie Lloyd and subsequently Annie Brackett in Rob Zombie’s remake. She also took on the lead role in the Hatchet series as Marybeth Dunston, and this year, she made an appearance in the reboot of Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead, as well as a forthcoming horror film titled Stream.
As a gaming enthusiast myself, I’ve had quite a journey in the horror genre. My career kicked off with a bang when I landed the role of Stu Macher in the original Scream back in the day. Fast forward to today, and I’m still going strong, having graced the screens in the beloved movie Thirteen Ghosts.
Both parts of the Killer Cakes special debut exclusively on Prime Video on Oct. 8.
