Scream 7 Confirms Gale’s Role In Chad & Mindy’s Franchise Return

Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown will be back as Chad and Mindy Meeks-Martin in Scream 7, and the first trailer may reveal the reason for their return. Along with returning favorites Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) and Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox), Chad and Mindy are part of a growing list of familiar faces in the new film.

Despite Gale Weathers appearing in Scream 6, Neve Campbell (who plays Sidney Prescott) didn’t return for the 2023 film, making it the first movie in the series without her. This actually fit the story, as the film centered on Sam and Tara, along with Chad and Mindy – the group established as the main focus after the events of Scream 5.

With all of the original four survivors making it through Scream 6, it will be interesting to see how Scream 7 accounts for the return of Chad and Mindy, now that their sisters aren’t involved. The upcoming film is also facing some challenges, as one of its stars was fired and another has left the franchise. However, the trailer might have given some clues about what role Chad and Mindy will play in the new story.

Scream 7’s Trailer Confirms That Chad & Mindy Return Because Of Gale

Around the middle of the Scream 7 trailer, Gale appears, prepared to help Sidney battle Ghostface once more. This wouldn’t be the first time – Gale has faced this situation six times before, and she almost didn’t survive the events of Scream 6.

The trailer reveals Gale accompanied Chad and Mindy when they came to Pine Grove to support Sidney and her family, establishing Gale’s connection to their arrival. It remains unclear whether they volunteered to help or were compelled to do so by threats against themselves.

Chad and Mindy are likely well-acquainted with Gale and Sidney, having shared the same frightening experiences in the 2022 film Scream and working closely with Gale during the events of Scream 6 in New York. Hints suggest Gale is the reason the Meeks-Martin twins are back for Scream 7, but Chad and Mindy might be hesitant to risk their safety again.

Chad & Mindy Will Have Another Encounter With Ghostface After Nearly Dying In Scream 6

Although Gale Weathers’ return seems central to the plot of Scream 7, the trailer also shows that Chad and Mindy will face off against Ghostface again. Both siblings have narrowly escaped Ghostface in the past – Mindy was stabbed on the subway in Scream 5, and Chad was attacked by two Ghostface killers in Scream 6.

After unexpectedly surviving both Scream 5 and Scream 6, Chad and Mindy Meeks-Martin are back for another showdown with Ghostface in Scream 7 – this time in what appears to be a bar. It remains to be seen if either twin will finally meet their end, or if the latest movie will continue the joke that they’re practically unkillable.
