Scott McCristal’s real-life wife REVEALED – and she looks just like his Married At First Sight bride Gia Fleur… but he insists they are divorced

Scott McCristal has denied rumors that he’s legally married to a woman who bears a strong resemblance to his wife from Married At First Sight, Gia Fleur.

There’s a lot of talk that Scott was still married to Marisa McElory, an American woman, when he signed up for the reality show last year.

However, the 33-year-old businessman from Queensland has shown Daily Mail evidence that he and his wife divorced three years ago.

According to documents obtained by Daily Mail, the couple officially divorced on May 5, 2022, through the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.

Marisa caused a lot of controversy when she responded to a fan’s question on Instagram about Scott’s marital status.

‘You didn’t hear EX, because I’m still legally his wife!’ Marisa wrote.

The bride’s sister confirmed this, stating, ‘They are still legally married in the United States.’

In 2019, Exclusive Diamonds by Ronnie shared photos and videos from Scott and Marisa’s wedding in San Diego, California, on their official Instagram page.

Beyond the beautiful photos of the wedding ceremony itself, I also spotted some lovely shots of Marisa proudly displaying the signed wedding papers right after they said their vows. It’s such a sweet and personal touch, and a great keepsake!

Marisa is a fitness instructor and former boxer from the US. People have noted she looks a lot like Gia, who was on the show Married at First Sight with Scott.

She is based between California and the Gold Coast.

This follows Scott, a reality TV veteran known from shows like Million Dollar Island, Blind Date, and Holey Moley, responding to accusations that he joined the show simply for publicity.

Scott recently told Daily Mail that he doesn’t pay attention to anyone questioning why he married Gia.

‘People can think whatever they want,’ Scott said.

‘They don’t know me. Everyone who knows me knows I’m not here for clout.’

Scott, a veteran of reality television, explained that comparing his time on shows like Blind Date and Holey Moley to Married At First Sight wasn’t a fair comparison.

‘Those shows were years ago, like 2018. They were fun games,’ he said.

Oh my gosh, it’s just…totally different than anything else! It’s not just liking someone, it is your life now. You’re pouring everything into this person – every moment, all your energy, your whole heart. It’s a real connection, you know? It’s everything!

He added that the decision to join the experiment was not taken lightly.

‘I put my business on the line for a long time. That’s a lot for me to do,’ he said.

‘So obviously I’m serious about it. If people don’t believe that, I don’t really give a shit.’

Scott shared that he was first asked to be on the show, but he said no multiple times before finally deciding to do it.

‘I actually said no a few times,’ he said.

Honestly, I realized I was stuck in a rut. I kept thinking, if I didn’t put myself out there and really try, I’d probably never meet anyone special. It pushed me to change my habits and actually make time for someone, which was something I hadn’t done in a long time.

He said meeting Gia at the altar was an instant spark.

As soon as I turned around, I couldn’t help but smile. We made eye contact, and she was beaming, laughing—there was just an instant connection. It felt like there was electricity between us.

Scott said the pair clicked immediately and barely stopped talking.

‘We were just asking each other a thousand questions. We were vibing straight away,’ he said.

The morning of Gia’s wedding appeared chaotic on TV, with her worried about telling everyone she has a child. However, Scott said his own preparations were calm and relaxed in comparison.

He explained that he grew up with just his two brothers, and they had a relaxed upbringing. He contrasted this with how others might have prepared for things, saying their experiences were very different.

Gia bragged about the couple’s sex life during Monday night’s episode of Married At First Sight.

Pictures show the couple was still very much together while settling into their Sydney apartment during the filming of the reality show.

The couple were the picture of domestic bliss as they went shopping at their local Woolies.

Gia and Scott bought everything they needed, like popcorn and wine, for cozy nights in watching movies.

Oh my gosh, I just had to tell someone! This support worker, she’s 35, and seriously, she’s in incredible shape! I saw her at the gym and she was wearing these amazing, super-fitted activewear pieces – tiny, like, tiny mauve bike shorts and this matching top that wrapped around. She looked absolutely incredible, honestly! I couldn’t help but notice how toned she is. It’s just…wow.

Scott, an entrepreneur, braved the cold weather wearing shorts and a T-shirt, topped with a North Face puffer jacket.
