Scott Bakula has finally returned to Star Trek: Enterprise and we hope it's just the beginning

As a lifelong gamer of both the small and big screens, I can confidently say that Scott Bakula is a legend whose star shone brighter than many before he graced the hallowed decks of the NX-01 Enterprise. His time on Quantum Leap was nothing short of groundbreaking, and it’s a testament to his talent that he was able to seamlessly transition into the Star Trek universe.

In the annals of Star Trek, one individual stands out as a science fiction icon who might be even more recognized than his Star Trek persona. That man is Scott Bakula, who carved a niche for himself long before he was cast in Star Trek: Enterprise. Bakula is best known for his time on Quantum Leap, and when he joined the Star Trek family, he was already a well-established actor, making him arguably the most notable star to have graced a Star Trek series. While names like William Shatner, Chris Pine, and Patrick Stewart are equally, if not more significant within the Star Trek universe, they didn’t gain their stardom prior to their involvement in Star Trek.

Scott Bakula found it particularly disappointing when his series, Enterprise, lasted only four seasons, given that it was just beginning to find its rhythm. After the show ended, Bakula’s connection with the franchise also came to an end. Although he appeared in the Captains’ movie alongside Shatner and attended a few conventions, he hasn’t shown significant interest in rejoining the series in any substantial capacity.

Therefore, his meeting with Connor Trinneer and Dominic Keating, his former co-stars, on their D-Con Chamber podcast added an extra layer of excitement to the occasion.

Bakula continues to be one of the most significant figures in Star Trek history, and there’s a possibility he might rejoin the crew. He recently completed a successful stint on NCIS: New Orleans, which ran for an impressive 155 episodes, giving him ample opportunity to delve back into Star Trek should he choose to do so.

Since his stint on NCIS concluded, he hasn’t been busy with work much, suggesting he might be eagerly waiting for an appealing script that could prompt him to embark on fresh ventures. He is well-liked by both fans and crew members, and a substantial number of fans are eager for the chance to see Bakula return to his role again.

Given how the narrative of Enterprise concluded and the subsequent timeline, it might appear challenging to carry on Captain Archer’s story post-fourth season. However, with a dash of creativity and ample originality, there could be a spinoff series in the works for him, if skillfully scripted. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that the podcast doesn’t mark Bakula’s final appearance within Star Trek.
