Scooter Braun trolls enemy Taylor Swift over star-studded Rhode Island party: 'How was I not invited to this?!?'

As I read through Scooter Braun’s heartfelt statement, it brought back memories of my own journey in the music industry. Like him, I too have faced controversies and had to take the high road, often feeling like I was the only one smiling or bearing the brunt of attacks.

Last weekend, Scooter Braun subtly criticized his adversary Taylor Swift by making a pointed remark about her high-profile party in Rhode Island.

The now-retired music manager, 43, who has been embroiled in a feud with Swift, 34, for years, took to Instagram to reveal he had watched the Max documentary about their rift, Taylor Swift vs Scooter Braun: Bad Blood.

Criticizing her extravagant party at her mansion attended by friends like Blake Lively and Channing Tatum, he posted a link to the event’s story – accompanied by the comment: “Why wasn’t I invited to this gathering?”

This was followed by the hashtag ‘Laugh a Little.’

According to DailyMail.com, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce welcomed their nearest friends and their kids to Swift’s residence last weekend for a special celebration – a birthday bash in honor of Taylor’s dear friend, actress Blake Lively, who turned 37.

2019 saw Braun becoming entangled in a heated dispute with Swift, following Swift’s acquisition of her master recordings from Big Machine Records CEO, Scott Borchetta, by the music mogul.

In a June 2019 Tumblr post, Swift expressed her disappointment over the high-profile transaction.

‘In essence, I’ve come to realize that my musical heritage will be managed by an individual who has attempted to undermine it,’ Swift explained.

For quite some time, I’ve been yearning and begging for the right to own my creative output. However, what I received was the offer to rejoin Big Machine Records, not as an owner but as someone who could “earn” an album back, one at a time, upon delivering a new one.

About a year and six months after, Braun successfully sold the original recordings for over $300 million.

Taylor Swift plans to remake her first six studio albums, with Fearless (Taylor’s Version), Red (Taylor’s Version), Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), and 1989 (Taylor’s Version) already re-recorded.

In June, Braun officially declared that his time as a music manager has come to an end, as he embarks on his next journey as a board member for Hybe and the CEO of Hybe America.

His statement initiated with: “Exactly 23 years ago, a 19-year-old boy embarked on managing an artist called Cato in Atlanta, GA, marking the start of my incredible journey. Throughout these years, I’ve encountered numerous experiences that were beyond anything I could have imagined.”

‘I have been blessed to have had a “Forrest Gump”-like life while witnessing and taking part in the journeys of some of the most extraordinarily talented people the world has ever seen. I’m constantly pinching myself and asking “how did I get here?” And after 23 years this chapter as a music manager has come to an end.’

As a loyal admirer, I’ve learned that the news of Scooter Braun stepping away from management is attributed to the departure of high-profile clients like Ariana Grande, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Demi Lovato from his roster.

Scooter, father of three kids with ex-spouse Yael Cohen, stated that his offspring were the main factor influencing his decision to step away from his professional endeavors.

For two decades, I devoted myself to being an artist manager, always on duty around the clock, every day of the week. But as my children grew up and my personal life encountered difficulties, I recognized that they were three precious gems I didn’t want to part with. The compromises I used to be ready to make now seemed unjustifiable to me. It was time for a change in my role.

Afterward, Braun discussed his upcoming professional step – serving as the CEO of Hybe America during the previous year. According to Variety’s report from last year, Braun assumed the position of sole CEO for the corporation.

In the upcoming chapter, I’m privileged to take on the roles of a board member at Hybe and CEO of Hybe America. For the past three years, my exceptional partner, Chairman Bang, has shared a vision that I wholeheartedly support. Beyond his professional acumen, he has proven to be a dear friend who comprehends my current life priorities. Currently, I prioritize being a father first, a CEO second, and no longer function as a manager.

He pondered over his extraordinary musical journey that saw him collaborate with renowned artists like Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande.

He started working with Justin and Ariana when they were both young teenagers, a fact he noted in his writing. Witnessing their growth into the accomplished individuals they are today remains one of his most cherished experiences. As their professional dynamics evolve, his unwavering support for them will persist, mirroring the same fervor he felt during each of their early, promising stages.

Reflecting back on my years as a manager, I am incredibly proud and grateful for the experiences I shared with Justin, Ari, and many others. The memories of their pranks at the water park, their electrifying shows, and the first steps they took to open an arena tour still resonate vividly in my mind. Witnessing them rise to the occasion, change the world, and make history was truly a privilege. It’s safe to say that I have been blessed to be part of something extraordinary, and I carry that sense of pride and honor with me every day. After all, being a manager for such inspiring individuals has left an indelible mark on my life.

Braun’s comment hinted at the disputes he encountered while managing music, though he did not explicitly mention what they were.

There’s been plenty of discussion regarding the current state of our company… as well as my professional journey. Whenever we achieved success, I wore a smile, and when faced with adversity, I strived to remain above the fray.

For the past three years, I’ve started to question whether choosing the higher ground has led to misunderstandings about our identity. Although I am stepping down from my managerial role and some client relationships may shift, it doesn’t imply that our company is departing or discontinuing operations.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m thrilled to announce that Allison Kaye and Jennifer McDaniels, two exceptional leaders in their field, are taking the reins. With our combined resources, the possibilities under their leadership are truly boundless. These dynamic women are set to steer our business into uncharted territories, creating what I firmly believe will become the most remarkable women-led management enterprise our industry has ever known.

He continued: ‘We at Hybe will continue to grow. With the addition of QC to Hybe America and our existing business at Big Machine, we will continue to add amazing execs and artists to the roster. Our WeVerse platform and growing gaming unit is something the whole industry can celebrate and join. Getting the opportunity to A&R and Executive Produce the solo career of Jung Kook last summer, and work with the other members of BTS as we break worldwide records, has been an absolute honor.

In the horizon, with fresh talents such as NewJeans, TXT, LE SSERAFIM, Seventeen, ILLIT, The Scarlet Opera, Ava Max, and numerous other emerging artists and projects, the future promises brilliance. It’s an honor to collaborate alongside Chairman Bang and Jiwon Park in expanding HYBE from the multi-billion dollar publicly traded corporation it is today into a globally influential multifaceted entertainment empire. Excited about the growth of Hybe, I also look forward to supporting budding entrepreneurs with my investments and serving as a national board member for Make A Wish, aiming to aid individuals and communities through our Braun Foundation. Balancing all these endeavors along with coaching my children leaves me unfazed by being occupied :)!

Absolutely, it’s been 23 years, and indeed, this phase has concluded. However, as Berry Gordy once shared with me, “it doesn’t always end as you envision, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t occur.” His words have proven to be insightful. I never foresaw how this chapter would conclude, nor even imagined it unfolding. Yet, it did. Every moment of it, I shall hold dear. I had my own plan…but it seems God’s plan was more appealing to me. Here’s to the unexpected turns life takes!

The announcement was made following the separation between Braun and Grande, which occurred in December 2023, marking over a decade of partnership.

Ariana Grande recently entered into a fresh management agreement with Brandon Creed from Good World Management, yet she’ll persist in her professional association with HYBE, the entertainment entity helmed by Scooter Braun.

Braun still notably manages Justin Bieber.

1. Justin Bieber, one of Scooter Braun’s most prominent artists, was rumored to have parted ways with him in August, but representatives for the “Sorry” singer disputed that they had separated last year. In fact, they clarified that Bieber had renewed his contract with Braun for another four years in 2022. However, this ongoing agreement didn’t prevent Ariana Grande from making her own move.
