Scissor Sisters reveal they are plotting a musical comeback and are releasing their first album in 14 years

The Scissor Sisters are planning a return to music, and are currently recording a new album following their popular summer tour.

Last year, the popular pop group Scissor Sisters celebrated the 20th anniversary of their first album. That album was a huge success in the UK, selling over 40 million copies.

The band achieved significant success with two number one albums and ten songs that reached the Top 40, including popular tracks like ‘I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’,’ ‘Take Your Mama,’ and ‘Filthy/Gorgeous’.

The group are now recording new music and will release their first album in 14 years in 2026.

For me, Scissor Sisters has always been about total acceptance – showing up as your authentic self, finding connection with others, and just celebrating the beautiful messiness of being alive. That’s what Jake Shears told The Sun, and it’s always resonated deeply with me.

It’s great to reflect on the past, but we’re even more excited about what’s coming next. We’ve returned to the studio to create new music after a long break, and it feels like we’re really making progress on our next project.

The band now features Jake, Babydaddy, and Del Marquis. Original members Ana Matronic and Paddy Boom chose not to participate in the reunion tour.

I was really surprised to learn why Ana Matronic won’t be joining the Scissor Sisters for their 20th anniversary tour. It seems Del Marquis has shared some insight into her decision, and honestly, it’s been a bit of a shock to fans like me.

Ana shared that she’s currently focused on her work and is especially dedicated to completing a history podcast. This podcast has grown into a larger, ongoing research and writing endeavor for her.

Those who know me and my work understand that despite being a showgirl, I’m a huge nerd at heart.

If you’ve heard me talk between songs onstage about everything from politics to pop culture, read my written thoughts on robots, or listened to my radio shows about music and history, you probably won’t be surprised to learn that I’ve fully embraced my nerdy interests, and they’re now guiding my work.

I’m wrapping up the first season of my history podcast, Good Time Sallies, and the work has sparked several ongoing research and writing projects.

Now that everything is confirmed with my current commitments, I won’t be able to join Scissor on this tour, unfortunately.

‘I wish the band and our fans all the best—I will be there in spirit to kiki with you!’

Jake Shears explained that Ana wasn’t able to participate because the timing just didn’t work for her right now. It wasn’t something she was interested in doing at the moment.

‘And I didn’t want that to keep us from coming out and playing these songs.’

Del Marquis explained that the team has been carefully considering how to enhance their show without trying to simply replace Ana.

‘She’s part of the spirit of this band and we want to honour that.’
