Skill 1: Fleetly Fading: Breakthrough
As a seasoned gamer and a passionate fan of Nikke, I must say that Scarlet: Black Shadow is one of the most exciting additions to the game lately! Having had my fair share of battles against formidable bosses, I can confidently vouch for this Nikke’s impressive prowess in both story missions and especially during intense boss fights.
Her unique blend of agility, power, and strategy makes her an absolute joy to use – whether you’re teaming up with the Bunny duo or working alongside Tia/Naga. But enough about the technicalities, let me tell you about a particularly thrilling encounter I had with this badass Nikke!
I was deep in a solo raid mission when Scarlet: Black Shadow came to my rescue. With her skillful maneuvers and relentless attacks, she single-handedly turned the tide of the battle. It was like watching a ballet of destruction, where each graceful movement concealed a lethal blow!
Now, I know what you’re thinking – “Geez, that sounds intense!” Well, let me tell you, it was nothing compared to the look on my opponent’s face when they realized Scarlet: Black Shadow was the one pulling the strings. I couldn’t help but chuckle at their dismay, knowing full well that Scarlet had them dancing to her tune!
So, if you’re looking for a Nikke that can handle any situation with poise and power, Scarlet: Black Shadow is your girl! Just make sure to invest in those Harmony Cubes wisely and prioritize her skills accordingly – trust me; it’s worth every penny. And hey, who knows? Maybe you’ll get a laugh out of an opponent or two, just like I did!
Triggers during a Full Charge attack. The impact varies depending on the number of attacks made.
Important to note that the effects of each phase do not accumulate or build upon one another.
In three instances, it targets the enemy unit with the lowest DEF and inflicts an additional 250.47% of the final ATK as damage.
For six attacks, it affects all enemies within attack range, dealing 500% of the final ATK as distributed damage.
In nine instances, it targets all enemies, dealing 750.47% of the final ATK as distributed damage.
Nearly every bit of harm she intends to inflict. She aims to cycle through her abilities as frequently as possible, which is advantageous since Scarlet’s Black Shadow skill recharges faster (0.3 seconds) compared to a regular Rocket launcher (1.0 seconds).
1. Each ability activation contributes to a burst accumulation, yet the amount it adds considering the rate at which they occur doesn’t yield significant results.
2. Two specific effects cannot coincide within the same attack. This implies that it will alternate between effect 1, then effect 2, then effect 3, and so on in a looping manner. Rather than effects 1 and others overlapping every three attacks. Instead, effect 1 will cycle independently after every three attacks.
Remark: Effects 2 and 3 are referred to as spread damage. This implies that if multiple opponents are targeted, the damage from the effect will be shared accordingly. For example, if a skill impacts 3 enemies, the damage would be 500% split among them (i.e., 166.67% per enemy). The only genuine “Area of Effect” (AoE) is effect 3, which strikes all visible opponents on the screen.
Normal Charge Time vs Delay
As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I’ve come to appreciate the intricacies and nuances of various weapon mechanics. The rocket launcher in this game is no exception. At first glance, it may seem like you can fire bullets at an impressive rate of 0.3 seconds, but alas, that is just the charge time. In reality, due to a delay known as “charge delay,” the actual firing rate is more like one bullet every 0.7 seconds when left on auto.
I’ve found that manually firing the rocket launcher can be quite tricky, leading to multiple shot delays because it’s challenging to get the timings just right. I’d recommend sticking with the auto-fire option unless you have a keen sense of timing and are willing to practice extensively to master the manual fire. It’s all part of the learning curve in this game, but trust me, once you get the hang of it, the rocket launcher can be a real game-changer!
Alice Interaction (Very Important) + Charge Speed
Alice possesses an exceptional ability that enhances the rate at which casters charge, not merely boosting their charge speed. Whether this is a deliberate feature or not remains uncertain. Given that Alice’s charging time is 1.5 seconds and Scarlet’s is only 0.3 seconds, it can be inferred that Alice’s buff equates to approximately a 58% faster charge speed compared to Scarlet.
boosting the rate at which energy is discharged causes her to launch attacks 17 instances rather than 13 within a full blast, representing a significant enhancement in damage output.
As a seasoned player with years of gaming under my belt, I can attest that boosting the charge speed of your Nikkes or equipping them with overloaded gear significantly enhances the gameplay experience. These tweaks not only make the game more engaging but also push the boundaries of what’s possible in this dynamic world. The thresholds for these improvements are strategically set, providing a perfect balance between challenge and enjoyment. I always find myself eagerly awaiting each level-up or gear upgrade to see how it affects my Nikkes’ charge speed!
+4.9% Charge Speed: 18 hits
+11% Charge Speed : 19 hits
+20% Charge Speed : 20 hits
Note: This is assuming the user is pairing Scarlet with Alice.
Skill 2: Fleetly Fading: Asura
Triggers upon entering Full Burst mode, impacts the user themselves. For a duration of 10 seconds, increases maximum ammo capacity by 60%. Immediately refills the entire magazine(s) as well.
Easy-to-use ability. Enhances her continuous firing duration during heavy bursts. Compared to the typical 6 ammunition capacity in most rocket launcher units, hers starts at 9. Her max ammo enhancement doesn’t multiply overload rolls or additional ammo buffs; instead, it simply increases the total buff value if any others are present.
When the magazine is upgraded to level 7, it will be completely reloaded, taking into account any ammo bonuses that were previously activated (such as Liter, Noir burst, and so on). Scarlet won’t have to reload during her burst even without maximum ammo overload rolls when teamed with either the Liter/Blanc or Noir duo, provided they possess high enough skill levels and a Bastion cube.
Burst: Fleetly Fading: Strike
Affects the user themselves. Alters the number of Full Charge attacks needed for Skill 1, either once, twice, or thrice, over a duration of 10 seconds. Additionally, boosts Attack by 115.12% and increases Charge Damage by 150.12%, both lasting 10 seconds.
One key ability that significantly boosts a character’s personal Damage Per Second (DPS) in the game is particularly noteworthy. The crucial aspects of this skill are the “ATK ▲” and the alteration of activation triggers for skill 1, which together allow for an immense output of single-target DPS, often surpassing that of other powerful characters like Modernia.
Scarlet’s dark crimson silhouette heavily relies on exploding to inflict damage. Her skill number 2 ensures a steady stream of damage output during each full burst, eliminating the need for constant ammo management or reloading before every full burst.
Campaign
Scarlet Black Shadow is performing exceptionally well in battles, surpassed only by a handful of top-tier teams in the meta. Although she deals distributed damage, her raw damage output remains competitive up to a certain point (20% CP deficit) without suffering retaliation from enemy attacks when activating her burst. However, when raptures become too tough or there are a large number of them on screen, Scarlet’s weaknesses start to show. She struggles to take down the raptures before they can attack, which at these CP deficits, more dangerous Raptures may one-shot the players’ Nikkes.
This statement can be rephrased as follows: In essence, this observation applies to all Nikkes in general; however, the powerful ones can circumvent this issue by employing high single-target damage output to take down threatening enemies, possessing increased burst potential, and/or avoiding restrictions imposed by the shared damage mechanism. Scarlet, unfortunately, has an extremely small splash radius, which is approximately ten times smaller than that of a regular rocket launcher (effectively acting like a bullet), leading to her struggling with burst generation and having weak off-burst damage.
Regardless of various factors, Scarlet possesses an extraordinary burst damage capability that allows her to remain a crucial part of the player’s campaign squad and propel them forward substantially. Chapters where Wind is weak are effectively free stage clears for her due to her high damage output. This becomes more significant as her distributed damage limit increases, allowing raptures to attack without being hindered excessively, particularly when she has elemental damage modifiers on her gear. Her entry into the game significantly enhances the viability of teams based on elements since the player can switch between squads according to the enemy’s weakness. This approach is more efficient than using a general team for all PvE content.
Note: Her distributed damage can be a solution to some boss mechanics, more notably on Motherwhale.
Recommended Teams
Crown Naga Team (highest DPS)
This team is undoubtedly her finest; it surpasses School Girls, thanks to the perks from Crown and Naga. Alice is pivotal in this setup, often partnered with Scarlet due to the significant ATK Nikke charge speed boosts she provides. This synergy significantly increases the frequency that Scarlet’s Skill 1 triggers during Full Burst, thereby enhancing her overall damage output substantially.
School Girl Team
Note: Liter substitutes will always either be Volume or Dorothy.
Tia’s persistent damage boost during her burst sets her apart from the bunny team, as Blanc’s damage taken debuff only affects a single rapture wave. Scarlet: Black Shadow maintains full ammo for 100% uptime (with Bastion Cube) throughout her burst duration without Noir’s ammo boost. Alice is an outstanding support thanks to the abilities mentioned in her skill 1 description, and she excels as both a support character and a burst generator. Modernia, Red Hood, Christmas Ludmilla (heavy on aim), or Drunk Scarlet can effectively replace B3 characters.
Bunny Team
As a veteran gamer with years of experience under my belt, I must say that while this team might not be as powerful as the School Girl Team, it still holds its own and is certainly worth considering. This team seems to excel in providing more damage output for underleveled characters like Alice, thanks to the max ammo buff. It’s always refreshing to see a team composition that can help less experienced players level up their characters faster without compromising on performance.
In my gaming journey, I’ve come across several teams that require extensive knowledge and resources to perform optimally, making it challenging for newcomers to keep up. But this team appears to be more inclusive, allowing even beginners to contribute effectively in battles. Kudos to the developers for designing a balanced team that caters to players of all skill levels!
Fast Cycle Team
Note: This requires two Cooldown Reduction Nikkes to work.
If the School Girl and Bunny teams aren’t accessible, another team to consider is one centered around Scarlet, with Mihara or Isabel (who can be swapped) serving as support characters. Scarlet should be utilized for maximum burst potential, while Isabel (or Mihara) reduces her full burst timer by 5 seconds. Modernia provides solid off-burst DPS, but she’s harder to replace since there aren’t many Nikkes capable of delivering good off-burst damage. However, alternatives like Scarlet, Christmas Ludmilla, and Guillotine can be considered.
In regular game modes, there could be challenges with generating quick bursts of damage using this team. Instead, characters who excel in creating powerful bursts could be beneficial alternatives to traditional Offense Burst Damage Per Second (DPS) characters. Examples of such characters are Alice, Centi, Anis, and Red Hood.
Arena
In a nutshell, Scarlet Black Shadow appears to be an outstanding contender in player-versus-player combat, primarily due to her impressive damage output. However, it’s worth noting that her burst generation isn’t as high as some other characters because she can only target a single enemy, unlike most other RLs which can hit 2-3 enemies per shot. Despite this limitation, she still holds her ground well against the top PvP contenders such as Scarlet, Alice, Red Hood, Summer Anis, and so on.
As a gamer, I’ve found that Scarlet Black Shadow can be tricky to handle, especially when she’s on defense teams. However, Sakura’s attacks can counter her if you strategically position Scarlet. That being said, it takes solid PvP understanding to truly outmaneuver any team in this game.
Scarlet has a unique damage distribution mechanism that can be problematic when she faces Biscuit and Defender Taunt teams. If the main target has Invulnerability, the damage intended for those targets gets labeled as “Immune.” This undistributed damage then spreads to other characters, but dealing zero damage doesn’t help much. So, if your main target has Invulnerability, Scarlet may deal minimal damage and potentially lead to a loss for you.
While it’s true that all meta teams have their counters when you possess enough PvP understanding, Scarlet Black Shadow has the capacity to defeat one out of every three enemy teams during an attack, given the right strategy. This is largely due to her extraordinary damage-dealing capabilities which can prove overwhelming if left unchecked.
Even though all meta teams have their weaknesses that can be exploited with proper PvP skills, Scarlet Black Shadow has the power to take out one of every three opposing teams when attacked strategically. This is primarily because she deals an enormous amount of damage if not controlled.
Team Compositions
Blanc Indom (SP Arena / Rookie)
The strategy of this group involves Scarlet primarily absorbing the majority of the incoming attacks (If all goes well), allowing Blanc’s burst to focus on her. This results in Scarlet: Black Shadow being invincible for about 10 seconds, a duration that typically allows her to eliminate any team without the same setup, such as teams with Biscuit + Noah or Sakura.
For this team to function effectively, it’s crucial that Scarlet possesses less durability than the Nikkes she’s sharing damage with, particularly Jackal, who uses the Skill “Jackal.” This balance is vital for some players, as it significantly impacts the team’s performance.
Fortunately, meeting this requirement isn’t overly challenging since Jackal is a defender, boasting higher HP and Defense stats compared to Damage Per Second (DPS) Nikkes. However, Alice could potentially pose a problem due to her role as another attacker Nikke. The only difference between them will be their equipment levels and duplicates (or dupes).
To address this potential issue, you can substitute Alice with Noise if Alice has lower base stats compared to Noise in your team composition.
Bread and Butter Team (Rookie)
The typical PvP squad, often seen in the Rookie Arena, is notoriously challenging to overcome because of its area-of-effect wipe immunity and consistent healing capabilities. This team isn’t commonly used in SP arena due to the prevalence of meta Nikkes within it. In some cases, Naga can replace Rapunzel (for healing purposes), or burst generators like Anis and Centi can step in for her role instead.
Immune Team
Hold off the adversary’s attacks for an extended period, allowing Scarlet Black Shadow to inflict damage, while not being constrained by the conditions that the Blanc Indom team requires.
Special Interception | Union Raid | Solo Raid
Scarlet: Black Shadow excels at overwhelming most bosses during Special interceptions. She dishes out immense single-target damage and can perform well regardless of the team composition because she’s largely self-reliant, capable of bursting when given the opportunity. Moreover, unlike some characters, she doesn’t require overloaded equipment to reveal her full potential. In essence, Scarlet: Black Shadow is one of the top damage dealers when starting Interception EXs, second only to Red Hood. However, she might struggle with Grave Digger due to her abilities not being able to directly shatter QTE circles.
Because she possesses significant self-buffs for attack, similar to standard Scarlet, she tends to join teams that boost attack power (like Tia and Helm) or reduce incoming damage (such as Novel and Blanc). Teams based on critical hits can also be effective with her (Volume and Mast), albeit her damage may not be as high when compared to using Liter. In simpler terms, she thrives in teams that enhance attack power or lessen damage taken, and critical hit-focused teams are also viable, though her damage output might be lower with them compared to using certain other characters.
Team Comps
As a dedicated player, I’ve noticed that the team compositions employed in Special Interception, Union Raid, and Solo Raids bear striking resemblance to those used in previous campaigns. However, for those players who may not have fully stocked their boxes, here are some “Meta” Teams that still pack a powerful punch:
1. Fire Knight – High Khatun (Lead), Skullcrown, Apothecary, Arbiter, and Scorpion
2. Ice Joker – Coldhearts (Lead), Spirithost, Grave Fiend, Frozen Banshee, and Ice Golem
3. Magic Mage – Athel (Lead), High Khatun, Sepulcher Guard, Saurus, and Tasi
4. Forest Archer – Coldheart (Lead), Seer, Dryad Nym, Coldhearts, and Skriath
5. Mechanist – Scorpid (Lead), Gorgorab, Apothecary, Arbiter, and Grave Fiend
Reminder: Prefer Liter over Volume, unless specified differently. Dorothy is also included as a possibility, but it’s Liter that typically appears in every competitive team setup due to its popularity. Other options labeled B1 are mentioned because Liter is often the preferred choice anyway.
Crit Team
A squad that heavily relies on critical hits. As both of our Damage Per Second (DPS) characters here gain an advantage from critical damage, it implies they aren’t significantly weakened by the absence of Attack buffers in the team. Novel could replace Mast, while Christmas Ludmilla can take Modernia’s place.
This group thrives on critical hits because our two attackers benefit from them. So even when we lack Attack boosters, they don’t take a big hit in damage output. Novel can be swapped for Mast, while Christmas Ludmilla can step in for Modernia.
Hyper Carry Scarlet
As a seasoned healer who has spent countless hours on the battlefield, I must say that having a dedicated team focused solely on Scarlet’s damage output can be a game-changer. Compared to the versatile Crit team, which is often preferred in many situations, this specialized squad caters specifically to Scarlet and her abilities. In my experience, this focus allows for more precise and effective strategies when it comes to maximizing her potential. While I’ve found great success with a Crit team led by Helm (or Quiry, if that’s your preference), I can definitely see the appeal of a dedicated Scarlet damage team in certain scenarios. It all depends on the specific circumstances and the objectives at hand.
Strengths
- Extremely strong Bossing Nikke. Second only to Piercing Nikkes.
- Self-contained kit, can fit in many teams
- Strong in campaign, until certain points.
- Is not Overload gear dependent to unlock most of her potential
- She is the Storm that is Approaching.
- Idle Jiggle.
Weaknesses
- Skill book heavy
- Near 100% Loss rate in 1v1’s (Actual Bozo)
Should You Pull?
Absolutely, she’s one of the most formidable bosses among the Nikkes, excelling in every game mode due to her versatility. She is an excellent new addition to the Nikke roster, being the only powerful wind-based DPS character at present. This makes her a valuable asset as she can significantly enhance team compositions when dealing with content that weakens against wind attacks.
Currently, there are two banners available: Modernia re-run and another one featuring Scarlet: Black Shadow. Your choice depends on your personal preference for content. Modernia has an advantage in campaigns thanks to her powerful campaign support characters such as Tia/Naga at the moment. On the other hand, Scarlet: Black Shadow excels in boss battles and arenas. Neither character is inherently weak in any area; it’s just that one may suit your playstyle better than the other.
