Scandalous pictures that raise uncomfortable questions about THAT shot of Alice Vanderpump and ultra-wealthy reality star Kenneth Tong. Her husband’s reacted with fury – but now Kenneth tells his side, shows us his photos and claims the unthinkable

Alice Vanderpump’s engagement ring sparkled brilliantly. An 18-carat diamond, surrounded by smaller stones, sat on her finger as she beamed with happiness.

Reality star Kenneth Tong shared a striking photo on Instagram this week showing his girlfriend, Alice, a 24-year-old from the show Made in Chelsea, and a large engagement ring. While Tong’s 11 million followers reacted with excitement, Alice’s husband was reportedly very upset.

Sam Vanderpump, who comes from a well-known television family and is married to Alice as of 2025, was furious about the post. He immediately messaged the person who posted it, demanding they take it down and stating that his wife had only briefly met the individual, who is now 40 years old, once before.

However, Kenneth, who first found notoriety on Big Brother back in 2009, tells a different story.

Let me tell you, I’ve heard the most interesting things from Tong. Apparently, just before Alice met Sam – he’s 29 now, and this was back in 2024 – she and Tong were incredibly close. He really showered her with attention, spoiling her with luxurious gifts, and even proposed! He actually used that stunning 18-carat ring when he did.

Although Alice was photographed wearing a ring on her finger, her representatives have confirmed that she is not engaged. They say she playfully tried on the ring as a joke and has only met Kenneth once while traveling.

He says he gifted her several expensive items while they were friends, including a Louis Vuitton cashmere jacket, several Chanel handbags, and a vintage Van Cleef necklace worth £3,700.

Stunning photos obtained by The Daily Mail reveal a unique friendship that started on Instagram several years ago. It blossomed in 2023 when Alice, a model working in China, was visited by her friend, Tong.

In one photo, Alice and Tong are embracing, both wearing white robes. Alice is nestled into his chest, with her face partially obscured.

One photo shows the couple under a fancy chandelier in a luxurious room, next to a gold grand piano. Another captures them standing together in a large room’s entrance, posing in front of a massive mirror.

The most memorable image is of Alice smiling and reaching towards the camera, prominently displaying her large diamond ring.

In an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, Tong described his friendship, saying it involved spending money without limits.

He explained that she always got whatever she wanted. If she desired something like Van Cleef jewelry, she received it. If she needed an upgrade, like a new phone, it was taken care of right away. She loved Chanel bags, so he’d often buy her two or three at a time.

And as for that ring?

He claims he proposed with an 18-karat natural color diamond ring set in platinum. However, Alice’s representatives state that he did not.

He admits he would have done anything for her, saying he’d have even bought her an apartment at One Hyde Park – London’s most luxurious address – if she’d asked.

Alice was a self-sufficient and successful model, financially independent and never reliant on me. However, I happily provided for her and enjoyed doing so.

Now based in Sydney, he explains how their globe-trotting relationship began.

In 2023, Alice Yaxley was working as a model internationally. She had successful assignments in China and Bali, and collaborated with brands like ASOS, Motel Rocks, and Missguided. She was represented by four different agencies at the time.

It was in China, Tong says, they cemented their friendship.

We first connected on Instagram and chatted online for several years. Eventually, I flew to China to visit her while she was living in Guangzhou, and it was an amazing experience.

Even though they lived a very luxurious life and made big romantic displays, Tong says they broke up soon after finally meeting in person.

He sadly shared that she was the one who ended the relationship and that it left him heartbroken. He also mentioned she rejected his proposal.

Kenneth Tong grew up in Hong Kong after being born in Toronto, and comes from a very wealthy Chinese family. He attributes the family’s wealth to a significant invention his grandfather made in plastic injection molding, which continues to provide for them today.

He was sent to boarding schools in Hong Kong and New York as a child, but was often expelled for rebellious behavior. He eventually attended Fettes College in Edinburgh, a well-known school also attended by former Prime Minister Sir Tony Blair.

In 2009, Tong was a contestant on Big Brother UK, but he only lasted five days before famously climbing over a wall to exit the show.

Despite being in the house for only a short period, he faced backlash for making unkind remarks. He called model Sophie Reade, now 36, ‘fat’ and threatened another housemate, saying he’d ‘pay someone to deal with them’ if they weren’t on the Big Brother show.

He stated he knew some very dangerous people globally, later specifying these were Chinese Triad gangsters he met when he was younger.

However, it was what he did after appearing on Big Brother that truly established him as someone who intentionally stirs up reactions online – a ‘social media provocateur,’ as he called himself.

In 2010, Tong faced widespread criticism for promoting dangerous ideas about eating disorders online. He seemed to suggest that anorexia could be a deliberate lifestyle choice, and posted harsh messages encouraging women to lose weight at any cost, even stating it was better to risk their health through dieting than to be larger sized.

The reaction was instant and strong, as stars like Rihanna and Katy Perry quickly took to Twitter to express their outrage.

Tong later said the incident was meant as a ‘scientific experiment,’ and he apologized, promising to donate to a charity that helps people with eating disorders.

Let me tell you about Alice! She’s a London girl who started her modeling career when she was just 16. Since then, she’s had the chance to work with some amazing brands – you’ve probably seen her in campaigns for ASOS, New Look, and River Island, among others. It’s been fantastic watching her career blossom!

When she was 19, she suffered severe burns to her face, arms, and chest while helping a friend with an overheated car. While opening the hood, the car unexpectedly exploded, and she underwent emergency surgery to treat the resulting injuries, which were deeply traumatic.

She’s now married to Sam, who is Lisa Vanderpump’s nephew. Lisa Vanderpump, 64, is well-known as the strong and influential figure from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Vanderpump Rules, making her a prominent name in television. This marriage means she’s now part of a very famous TV family.

Sam, known from the show Made in Chelsea, met Alice in July 2024, and they quickly fell for each other in a fast-moving romance.

He proposed after only six months of dating, and friends and co-stars Ollie and Gareth Locke – aged 39 and 37 respectively – reportedly assisted him in selecting the engagement ring. Later that year, in December, the couple had a small, private wedding ceremony at the Chelsea Registry Office.

The wedding happened quickly after Sam shared that he’d been seriously ill, almost dying from sepsis. This developed after he suffered liver and kidney failure and had been stuck in bed for days with dehydration and terrible back pain.

Sam shared with the Daily Mail that Alice promptly called an ambulance when the reality star became confused and disoriented.

Sam revealed on Made in Chelsea that he had been diagnosed with a serious, permanent liver condition. Without a transplant, doctors estimated he had only four or five years to live.

He was born with two rare conditions affecting his liver and kidneys, but didn’t experience any symptoms until December 2024, when his health suddenly worsened.

The couple recently had a son, Marmaduke, nicknamed Duke. He was born in February at the Kensington Wing of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. They named him in memory of Sam’s father, Mark, who sadly passed away in 2018 at the age of 59.

Alice is now featured on the newest season of Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules, appearing with Sam, Lisa, and friends Ollie and Gareth Locke. The show gives viewers a look at her life as she becomes more involved in the Vanderpump world.

Despite her seemingly perfect new life, the truth is quite different. Her past involved extravagance, a close friendship with someone very unlike the people she knows now, and a truly dazzling diamond ring.
