Ione Skye was a pinup beauty from the 1980s.

She became most famous for her role as John Cusack’s love interest in the 1989 romantic comedy, Say Anything.

The London-born actress also appeared alongside Keanu Reeves in the 1986 film River’s Edge and with River Phoenix in The Night In The Life Of Jimmy Reardon in 1988.

After that, the actor appeared in a variety of projects, including the films Wayne’s World and Zodiac, the TV series Arrested Development and Good Girls, and the shows Fever Pitch, Camping, and La Brea.

She is not seen very often on a red carpet but now and then she pops up.

The actress looked stunning in a black and red dress at the premiere of Anaconda, held at The United Theater on Broadway in Los Angeles on Saturday.

She also mentioned that John Cusack had read an advance copy of her memoir, in which she discloses they had a sexual encounter years after making the movie together.

She explained in a statement that she needed to move on, referencing a meeting she had after her divorce from Adam Horovitz of the Beastie Boys.

And Cusack’s reaction was priceless. 

He texted her, saying the book didn’t seem very exciting based on how she described it. He told her he actually enjoyed it quite a bit.

Skye defends how she depicted the relationship, clarifying that the connection wasn’t physical. She explained that the characters’ bond was built on their working dynamic and intellectual connection, rather than intimacy.

She added, ‘I felt a little bad, but, oh well.’

The actress also shared memories of first looking up to Joaquin Phoenix, her friend and co-star in the 1988 film, A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon.

I eventually came to see River as a brother, but when we first met, I was completely smitten and even had a crush on him! I was really excited about our first kiss in the movie – I thought he was incredibly attractive.

Oh my god, her book is EVERYTHING! She tells the whole story of how she met Ad-Rock from the Beastie Boys when she was just twenty – it was totally a whirlwind! And then, get this, they actually got MARRIED in ’92! I’ve read it like a million times, it’s just… perfect.

The couple divorced in 2000, and Horovitz later married Bikini Kill singer Kathleen Hanna.

‘I wrote to Adam,’ she said. ‘He’s private, but also such a big part of my story so he couldn’t not be in it.’

Skye’s husband, Ben Lee, a musician from Australia, fully supported her new memoir. They have been married for 15 years and share a daughter, Goldie, who is 16. Skye also has a 25-year-old daughter, Kate, from a previous relationship.

‘I don’t think anything ruffled his feathers,’ she said.
