Although “Saw XI” won’t appear on the schedule due to its cancellation, horror enthusiasts can take solace in the fact that another horror movie has stepped up to occupy its original release date instead.
According to Deadline, the movie “The Strangers: Chapter 2” is scheduled for release on September 26th. Renny Harlin will direct again, and Madelaine Petsch will once more play Maya in this sequel.
In between the first two instalments of the trilogy, which is essentially a remake of the 2008 movie, The Strangers: Chapter 2 was shot. Although specific plot points about the second film haven’t been revealed yet, Petsch has earlier confirmed that the entire trilogy unfolds over a span of five days.
She mentioned that she enjoys examining these sets of works. Essentially, it’s an exploration of what remains of a person when they’ve been pushed beyond their limits – who do they become in the end of the day?
Maya’s experiences across the three movies depict her struggles. The Strangers consistently wreak havoc in Maya’s life.
While the “The Strangers” franchise continues to thrive, unfortunately, the same isn’t true for the “Saw” series. The production of its 11th film was recently halted, despite the favorable critical and financial reception of “Saw X”.
The decision not to proceed seems to stem from a disagreement at the highest levels, as Patrick Melton has stated that he and his writing partner, Marcus Dunstan, haven’t received any updates since they submitted their initial script draft last year.
He explained that the situation is currently stuck at a management level, not affecting the creative team or any other aspects. The issue seems to originate from conflicts between producers and Lionsgate, as they struggle to agree on key points.
The upcoming movie, “Saw XI,” delves into similar themes as “Saw VI.” In this story, you’re an ordinary citizen who is filled with anger and frustration over some issue, feeling helpless to make a change. However, Jigsaw (John Kramer) will take matters into his own hands.
