Savannah Guthrie makes a stop at ‘Today’ show a month after mom Nancy’s abduction

Savannah Guthrie returned to NBC studios in New York on Thursday after being off the air for over a month, but she wasn’t back in her regular role.

Rather than appear on “Today” as usual, the show’s anchor visited her coworkers at NBC after her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, was reported missing in Arizona. An NBC spokesperson confirmed that Guthrie briefly stopped by the studio to express her gratitude to her colleagues.

She intends to come back to the show eventually, but right now her priority is supporting her family and assisting in efforts to find Nancy.

A security camera at her front door captured footage of a masked man with a backpack and gun before he grabbed it. The man tried to cover the camera lens with his gloved hand. Over a dozen gloves have been found nearby, but one that was initially thought to match the glove in the video actually belonged to an employee at a local restaurant.

The Guthrie family is offering a $1 million reward, but it will only be paid if their daughter, Nancy Guthrie, is found safe and returned home, not just if someone is arrested or charged with a crime. They made this decision after speaking with the police.
