Sarah Michelle Gellar is reuniting with a recent co-star on the hotly-anticipated Buffy reboot.
In simpler terms, Buffy Summers, the main character from the popular vampire slayer series, will be played by the same actor again in the initial episode of Hulu’s reboot, which is being directed by Chloé Zhao, who recently worked on Marvel’s Eternals.
With Gellar and the new Slayer Nova, portrayed by Ryan Kiera Armstrong, joining the cast is Chase Sui Wonders, known for her role in I Know What You Did Last Summer, taking on a supporting part.
As a dedicated fan, I had the privilege of witnessing an exciting encounter between two of my favorite stars – Frieda Pinto (from AppleTV+’s hit series The Studio) and Sarah Michelle Gellar. This magical moment unfolded during the filming of the legacy sequel to I Know What You Did Last Summer, where Sarah briefly reprised her role as Helen Shivers in a dreamy sequence. Quite an unforgettable experience for me!
“That’s right, I got my bestie to come play with me,” Gellar confirmed in her Instagram Stories.
As for Wonders, she said Gellar is “just such a force to be reckoned with” (via Deadline).

In a similar vein, we quickly formed a strong bond during our shared experience of watching “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” She’s an exceptional individual with a great personality, and she extended an invitation for me to join in on something.
First, she shared that Chloé Zhao is both directing and serving as showrunner. Furthermore, Eric Kissack, who happens to be our editor for The Studio, is also handling the editing for the Buffy series.
Information about Wonders’ part in the revival of Buffy remains confidential, however, it has been disclosed that her character will be named Shirley.

Currently, the pilot is being shot in Los Angeles. Sarah Michelle Gellar is both starring in it and serving as an advisor on all matters related to Buffy.
In simple terms, she expressed that playing her part in the series is a highly enjoyable experience, and Gellar is always present on set, from the beginning to the end of filming. She’s quite involved in the production process.
In addition to the cast, Sarah Bock from Severance, Faly Rakotohavana known for Secret Society of Second-Born Royals, Ava Jean who has worked on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Daniel di Tomasso from Witches of East End, and Jack Cutmore-Scott famous for Frasier, are also part of the reboot.
The Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot is yet to receive a release date.
