Earlier in the year, it became known that the classic supernatural series, famously recognized, will soon have its anticipated follow-up. This upcoming series will feature Sarah Michelle Gellar returning to her role, working together with a new, younger vampire slayer character portrayed by Ryan Kiera Armstrong.

Now that the reboot is in motion, Gellar posted an Instagram picture to keep fans informed about the show’s advancements. She hinted at a script reading session happening soon as she captioned it, “Tiny steps forward.

Gellar, who played Buffy Summers from 1997 to 2003, recently shared why she decided to return to the role of the legendary heroine. Previously, she declined several chances to do so.

She admitted that for quite some time, she had declined the prospect of bringing back the series. She felt it wasn’t appropriate to re-introduce something that was already familiar. However, she patiently waited for the perfect moment. That moment arrived when Chloé Zhao, an ardent Buffy fan, pitched the project to her, and she agreed.

The development process has taken a considerable amount of time – approximately three years now. Despite this prolonged effort, we’re still refining it. Compared to previous seasons, the final product is expected to be less dense. Our aim is to strike a balance between introducing fresh characters and maintaining familiar faces.

One intriguing feature about ‘Buffy’ is its constant blending of genres throughout its run. We’re currently exploring ways to update the show’s core themes, particularly addressing the concept of feeling alienated in a society heavily influenced by social media.
