Sarah Michelle Gellar reveals if she would move to Australia after filming surprise cameo in I Know What You Did Last Summer – and the reason why it wouldn’t be in trendy Bondi

Fans of the well-known horror classic I Know What You Did Last Summer were astonished when she made an unexpected appearance in the upcoming remake.

Sarah Michelle Gellar managed to keep her participation secretive as she teamed up with her husband, Freddie Prinze Jr., during their filming stint in Australia the previous year.

Last year, I confirmed that Freddie would once again step into the shoes of Ray Bronson for the upcoming film – a fact I kept under wraps until now, as it was quite the surprise.

To Daily Mail Australia, Sarah clarified that she didn’t lie about her role in the movie; instead, she carefully selected her choice of words.

She clarified, “I didn’t indicate that I wouldn’t appear in the film. What I did say was that my character was deceased.” She chuckled as she made this clear.

In the year 1997, at the ages of 21 (Freddie) and 20 (Sarah), they both appeared in a cult movie. Five years subsequently, they tied the knot.

Fans were taken aback when they discovered that she, who played the well-known character Helen Shivers, had met an untimely end in the recent movie release.

Regarding her stay in Australia to shoot the film, Sarah mentioned that the couple blended with the locals and she now identifies as a resident of Sydney.

‘Sydney to me is that wonderful mix,’ she said.

‘I prefer the relaxed coastal vibe of Los Angeles combined with the urban sophistication and culture of New York City – that’s more my style, which I find in Sydney.’

But when Freddie suggested they stay in the popular beachside suburb of Bondi, Sarah knew better.

‘No, no. Bondi is great to eat but it’s too crowded. You won’t love it. I know you,’ she said.

The Scooby-Doo star said she much preferred Bondi’s quieter neighbouring suburbs.

She declared, “I’m all set! Let’s head out to Double Bay or Rose Bay,” she excitedly shared, enthusing over the picturesque coastal scenery and excellent cafes in the eastern suburbs.

The couple and their children arrived in Australia for filming in November last year.

While they were there, they explored Taronga Zoo, Sea Life Aquarium, and also scaled the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

After spending weeks Down Under, she left with a suitcase filled with one iconic Aussie staple.

‘I am a Tim Tam girl,’ she admitted.

‘My suitcase was quite filled. I was very worried about customs!’

It was during her time in Sydney, the idea of an Uber One partnership was born.

Uber One is a subscription service providing discounts on Uber trips and UberEats, as well as benefits such as cinema ticket savings.

Sarah shared that she resided in Rose Bay without owning a car. Instead, she relied on Uber for transportation and frequently used Uber Eats to have meals delivered.

When Uber One proposed their campaign to me, they demonstrated that I could have saved significantly by being an Uber One member throughout our trip. In the advertisement you’ll find… the savings were substantial.

In an ad for Uber One, Sarah encounters again the homicidal fisherman featured in I Know What You Did Last Summer.

She shows what she could have saved last summer with Uber One – a somewhat frightening sum.

Uber One subscribers have an exclusive opportunity to catch the movie “I Know What You Did Last Summer” at Hoyts Cinemas, boasting some amazing benefits like discounted ticket prices ($12.50 for regular seats, $27.50 for HOYTS LUX) and unlimited complimentary popcorn refills!
