Sarah Michelle Gellar lands first movie role since Buffy revival cancellation

Sarah Michelle Gellar will star in a new action comedy alongside Nicole Richie, Raven-Symone, and RuPaul. According to Variety, the movie, titled Stop That Train, will feature Gellar playing herself and will also include appearances by several stars from RuPaul’s Drag Race.

The project also features stars like Michelle Visage, Chris Parnell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Charo, Brian Jordan Alvarez, Natasha Leggero, Drew Droege, and Joel McHale.

Adam Shankman directed the project and also stars alongside Ginger Minj, Jujubee, Brooke Lynn Hytes, Latrice Royale, Marcia Marcia Marcia, and Monét X Change.

The new film follows Tess and DeeDee, two train attendants working on the luxurious Glamazonian Express. When a massive storm threatens to wreck the train, they must team up with the stuck-up first-class staff and President Gagwell to prevent disaster in this over-the-top, comedic adventure.

Okay, so I just found out that Stop That Train is finally coming to US theaters on June 12th. It was supposed to come out earlier, on May 29th, but it got delayed. No word yet on when we in the UK will get to see it, though – still waiting on that release date!

Gellar stated that it’s still too early to say whether the planned revival series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer: New Sunnydale, will actually happen. The series was intended to star Ryan Kiera Armstrong as the new Slayer.
