Sarah Michelle Gellar inspects a crime scene in Dexter: Original Sin trailer
As a gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in the dark and twisted world of Dexter, I can confidently say that Paramount Plus’s new prequel series, “Dexter: Original Sin,” has piqued my interest like no other. The trailer, featuring Sarah Michelle Gellar and Patrick Gibson, promises a gripping storyline that delves into the origins of everyone’s favorite serial killer.
The streaming service, Paramount Plus, recently released a preview of their upcoming drama series titled “Dexter: New Blood“, which features actress Sarah Michelle Gellar, best known for her role in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer“.
The prequel follows a young Dexter Morgan, played by Shadow and Bone‘s Patrick Gibson, as his bloodthirsty urges begin to impact his student life.
Under the tutelage of his father, Harry (played by Christian Slater), Dexter follows a specific set of rules to identify and eliminate individuals deemed unfit for society, all while working as an intern at the Miami Metro Police Department.
The ten-episode series will premiere on the streaming service on Friday, December 13.
The thrilling trailer sees Harry explain the importance of following the iconic Code, saying: “[It] is to make sure that you are different from the people that you kill.”
Dexter swiftly commences his series of murders, targeting individuals he perceives as unjustly free, all the while managing to evade detection.
He remarked, “If there’s anyone who understands the strength of impulses, it’s certainly me.” To which Harry followed up: “Take my word for it, if you persevere, everything will turn out alright.
Later on, we meet a few fresh faces, such as Dexter’s superior Tanya Martin (portrayed by Gellar) and detective Aaron Spencer (played by Patrick Dempsey). These characters are relentless in their pursuit of the elusive serial killer.
Over time, Dexter sharpens his abilities thanks to the assistance of his coworkers, all the while striving to stay inconspicuous.
Harry clarified, “It’s crucial to fit in seamlessly. A single misstep could jeopardize not only your own life but also that of your sister and me.
Dexter said, “That’s me, that’s who I’m striving to be.” Learning my code was only the start; truly living it for the first time is an entirely different tale.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve got some exciting news! The game Original Sin, which has been masterfully crafted by Clyde Phillips, the genius behind the hit showrunner “Dexter”, is now on my radar. This captivating title features an impressive lineup of actors such as Molly Brown, James Martinez, Christina Milian, Reno Wilson, and Alex Shimizu. Can’t wait to dive in!
Additionally joining the cast on a regular basis are Joe Pantoliano, Brittany Allen, Carlo Mendez, Randy Gonzalez, Raquel Justice, Aaron Jennings, Jasper Lewis, Isaac Gonzalez Rossi, and Roberto Sanchez.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the main actor shared his thoughts on taking over the renowned role originally played by Michael C. Hall.
He expressed doubt, stating, “I’m unsure if I’ve adequately readied myself for this, as I’m unaware of the challenges ahead.” However, he aims to inject his own personality into the character and respectfully maintain the essence of who he portrayed.
Dexter: Original Sin will premiere on Paramount+ on Friday, December 13.
