Sarah Michelle Gellar dishes on her shock I Know What You Did Last Summer cameo

Sarah Michelle Gellar has revealed if she is in I Know What You Did Last Summer redo.

On Thursday, the 48-year-old woman admitted to her role in a project starring her husband, Freddie Prinze Jr., who is also 48 years old.

Turns out the Buffy The Vampire Slayer did indeed shoot scenes for the highly anticipated reboot.

‘Spoiler alert ‼️ Helen Shivers is still dead,’ Gellar began her caption.

The Hollywood veteran stated that whenever someone asked him if he would appear in the latest @ikwydlsmovie, he never deceived them. Instead, his consistent response was, ‘I am already deceased.’

To put it simply, I hadn’t imagined myself being part of the film until Jenn Kaytin and Sam Lansky proposed that wild dream sequence with Madelyn Cline. It’s hard to believe we managed to maintain that secret.

Gellar finished with: ‘Long live dead Helen Shivers the og Croaker Queen.’

Lisa Rinna commented, “You’re always a queen, honey,” and Heather Graham gave it a thumbs-up.)

Geller and Prinze, 49, met on the set of 1999’s I Know What You Did Last Summer.

In a post on social media during November 2024, the action star disclosed that she had been in Australia alongside Prinze for filming of a horror movie.

Geller’s Helen Shivers was killed in the 90s film.

Prinze, 49, reprises his role as Ray Bronson and Jennifer Love Hewitt, 46, returns as Julie James.

Additionally, Geller confirmed that a new take on Buffy the Vampire Slayer was being developed, though she was bound by secrecy and couldn’t share specifics about it.

We will only proceed once we are completely prepared and certain that what we offer is both in line with your expectations and unique in its essence.

In 2026, the revamped version of Buffy is set to appear on television screens. On July 18, the fresh adaptation of I Know What You Did Last Summer premiered in cinemas.

Instead, Hewitt’s comeback to I Know What You Did Last Summer was driven by a strong affection for the horror series.

I, a dedicated follower, am thrilled to step back into the shoes of Julie James, a role I originally played 30 years ago in the legendary teen slasher. Today, I want to acknowledge and express my gratitude to the innovative team behind this new installment for breathing fresh life into the franchise with genuine heart.

In simple terms, they communicated to Variety that from the outset, it was clear that directors Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and Sam Lansky held a deep affection for the initial film.

To truly recreate something fresh while honoring its origins, it’s essential that you genuinely appreciate and comprehend it.

‘So, I was just blown away and it meant a lot to me.’

In the upcoming release scheduled for 2025, we find a new band of adolescents from Southport, North Carolina, pursued by a murderer mimicking a previous killer, following a tragic accident.

In my role as a lifestyle expert, let me share a captivating scenario: I, Jennifer, am portraying the character Julie, who receives an intriguing request from a youthful collective. They appeal to me for assistance, and in response, I find myself drawn back into the tumultuous events of my past alongside fellow survivor Ray Bronson, brilliantly played by Prinze Jr. This exciting turn of events promises to bring a fresh wave of drama and adventure into our lives once more.

Jennifer last played Julie in the 1998 sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.

She was not involved in the 2006 direct-to-video follow-up or the 2021 reboot series.

Kaytin and Sam proposed an alternate strategy, seamlessly picking up where the 1997 movie’s narrative left off.

The creative team responsible for the project has been working with Jennifer to develop Julie’s character, who is currently a trauma expert and professor, having recently divorced from Ray, and decided never to go back to Southport again.

The actress commented: “They gave me the opportunity to understand her more deeply than anyone else, which was incredibly gracious since they weren’t obligated to.

‘I felt very seen as somebody who had created her the first time.’

In the latter half of the movie, Julie assumes a crucial position, coaching Ava, portrayed by Chase Sui Wonders, and ultimately assists in exposing two culprits.

In an unexpected twist for the credits, the movie reintroduces Brandy Norwood as Karla – a friend from Julie’s college days in I Still Know – hinting at another exciting installment of the series.
