Sarah Lancashire’s British movie Yesterday has found a new streaming home in the UK.
2019’s movie titled “Directed by Danny Boyle” features Himesh Patel, a previous cast member of “EastEnders,” as Jack Malik, a singer-songwriter. An unexpected bus crash during a global blackout sends him into a world where The Beatles have never been formed, and he discovers that he has the only memories of their music.
Jack grapples with an ethical quandary: should he capitalize on performing Beatles tunes under his own name, while only Liz (from Lancashire) and Leo (Justin Edwards) seem to be the ones recalling The Fab Four.
UK enthusiasts with a hankering to re-experience “Yesterday” or catch it freshly, can now conveniently stream the film on BBC’s iPlayer platform.
Yesterday was rated with four stars by Digital Spy, who found the film both crowd-pleasing and heartwarming in their review.

Besides Patel, Lancashire, and Edwards, the cast of the film Yesterday includes Lily James and Joel Fry. Notable cameos were made by James Corden and Ed Sheeran.
Originally, Danny Boyle had planned to cast Chris Martin from Coldplay instead of Ed Sheeran in the movie. This was information revealed by the director earlier.
The director shared with Entertainment Weekly following the movie’s premiere that the character was portrayed as Chris Martin, a member of Coldplay in the initial screenplay.
Richard Curtis was acquainted with Chris due to their mutual work on a project for Red Nose Day under Comic Relief. Interestingly, he also knows Ed because they reside in the same neighborhood of Suffolk.

He went on to say: “We shared a really enjoyable moment with Ed, during which we exclaimed, ‘You’d be perfect for this! You’re our top pick. We can’t imagine anyone else,’ and he responded, ‘Wait a minute, you’ve already asked Chris Martin?’
“He has a great sense of humor and takes jokes well, even when they come his way in the movie. However, this trait also makes him prone to joking around with others, including poking fun at himself for being the runner-up to Chris Martin.
Yesterday is now available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
