Sarah Jessica Parker makes rare remarks about her and Matthew Broderick’s three kids

During a recent awards show, Sarah Jessica Parker rarely spoke about her three children with husband Matthew Broderick.

The actress and her husband have three children: a 23-year-old son named James Wilkie, and 16-year-old twin daughters, Marion Loretta Elwell and Tabitha Hodge Broderick.

Sixty-year-old actress Kristin Davis, known for her role in Sex and the City, received the Carol Burnett Award at the Golden Globes’ Golden Eve special, a new primetime event broadcast on CBS and Paramount.

Oh my gosh, you guys, it was AMAZING! At the event on Tuesday, January 6th, Parker was just glowing, and she gave the sweetest shoutout to Broderick and their kids! And get this – their oldest son was there with them! I almost died of happiness, seriously. It was just so perfect seeing her acknowledge her whole family like that.

Her husband, along with friends Colman Domingo and Kristin Davis – a former co-star from Sex and the City – presented her with the honorary award.

She delivered a heartfelt and memorable speech when accepting her lifetime achievement award, and finished by lovingly acknowledging Broderick and their children.

She started by addressing her family and her husband, Matthew Broderick, who she’s been married to for almost 30 years.

You know, when my husband and I first started dating, I always joked that he was offering me the ultimate package deal! He’s such a dedicated and talented guy – an amazing actor and comedian – and he’s always been incredibly supportive. It felt like he was giving me a ‘family discount’ on all his skills and experience, and I got a front-row seat to watch him excel at everything he does. It’s been wonderful!

She then spoke about their three children, and their oldest son was present in the audience with them.

She lovingly gazed at her oldest child, her voice catching with emotion as she acknowledged James Wilkie, Loretta, and Tabitha – the family they had created together.

I love you both very much and am so impressed by the people you’re growing into. It motivates me to do my best and make you proud, both at home and at work.

She also thanked her parents, her team who have supported her for years, and her Sex and the City colleagues. She also gave a special mention to the legendary actress Carol Burnett, who is 92 years old.

At the end of her speech, she walked over to her husband and gave him a kiss.

In her speech, she fondly remembered her actor parents and their romance, explaining how they instilled in her a love for performing. She described her first role – a Broadway debut – as both exciting and a bit overwhelming.

She became emotional while recalling her twenty-plus years filming Sex and the City with her fellow actors in New York City.

She fondly remembered working with the four main characters, saying she was grateful for 25 years with a wonderful group of actresses and actors.

The Carol Burnett Award recognizes ‘outstanding contributions to television on or off screen.’ 

She shared how much she admired Burnett as a child, explaining that Burnett was her inspiration and helped launch her acting career, which has lasted for decades.

The Golden Eve event, held at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, celebrated both Helen Mirren and Sarah Jessica Parker.

Parker was honored for his work in television, and Helen Mirren was celebrated with the Cecil B. DeMille Award for her achievements in film.

The Golden Globes’ pre-show, Golden Eve, was broadcast on Thursday and is available to stream live on DirecTV, Fubo, and Hulu + Live TV.
