Sarah Jessica Parker channels her author alter ego Carrie Bradshaw as she judges The Booker Prize 2025

Sarah Jessica Parker, known for playing Carrie Bradshaw, served as a judge for the 2025 Booker Prize.

Oh my gosh, you guys, they finally announced the winner! It was chosen from a HUGE pile of books – 153 novels, can you believe it?! And the judging panel? Seriously amazing! Roddy Doyle, the Irish writer I adore, was on it, and Kristin Davis from Sex and the City! I’m so excited to find out which book they picked!

Sarah became well-known for playing Carrie, a fashion-loving newspaper writer who lives in New York City.

The 60-year-old actress showed she shares her character’s love of writing when she arrived at Old Billingsgate in London on Monday.

Sarah chose a purple satin dress featuring a fitted top and black criss-cross ribbons around the skirt.

She wore sparkly heels to make herself look taller, and completed her outfit with a pearl necklace and a brown handbag.

Ruth Jones, the creator of Gavin & Stacey, was among the attendees, joined by well-known figures like Sir Lenny Henry, Lisa Makin, Jason Isaacs, Emma Hewitt, and Charles Dance.

Booker Prize experts currently predict that British author Andrew Miller and Indian author Kiran Desai are the most likely to win the fiction award.

The six finalists are competing for a prestigious literary award that includes a £50,000 prize, as well as increased book sales and public recognition for the winner.

Established in 1969, the Booker Prize has become well-known for launching and significantly boosting the careers of its winning authors.

The award has been given to acclaimed authors such as Salman Rushdie, Ian McEwan, and Arundhati Roy. This year, Samantha Harvey won the prize with her story about a space station, ‘Orbital’.

The literary prize initially accepted novels in English from the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Commonwealth countries. In 2014, it broadened its eligibility to include writers from the United States.

This year’s competition has narrowed down to six finalists, including three writers from the U.S.: Choi, Kitamura, and Markovits. A fourth finalist, Desai, has lived in New York for many years.

Sarah became upset while talking about the recent and sudden cancellation of her show, And Just Like That….

Viewers who enjoyed the first series were often disappointed with the sequel, finding its conversations overly sweet, its new characters embarrassing, and its plots predictable and unoriginal.

Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon all reprised their popular roles, but Kim Cattrall chose not to return as a series regular, after years of reports about disagreements with her fellow cast members.

As a lifestyle expert, I was really surprised to hear HBO canceled the show after just three seasons! It turns out the cast themselves were completely in the dark about it. Kristin recently confirmed they didn’t find out they were canceled until after they’d finished filming the last episodes – can you imagine the shock?

Sarah, an executive producer for ‘And Just Like That…,’ recently discussed the possibility of leaving the show, initially suggesting a ‘graceful exit.’ However, she then surprised viewers by hinting that it might only be a temporary break.

She admitted it was a tough choice to stop playing her famous role as Carrie, the sex columnist, but she hasn’t ruled out coming back to the character in the future.

The Ed Wood actress hinted she wasn’t sure what the decision meant for her, playfully suggesting she might simply be taking a break.

Sarah said she talked at length with Michael Patrick King, the showrunner, about the decision to cancel the show. King also served as showrunner for Sex and the City.

As a lifestyle expert, I always say it’s crucial to be mindful of unique opportunities and how we approach them. Before diving in, really ask yourself if it feels right and if you’re genuinely adding value. Sometimes, the most respectful thing you can do is move on when the energy is good, rather than overstaying your welcome or taking advantage of people’s kindness. Knowing when to step back gracefully is a sign of true professionalism and gratitude.
