Sarah Beeny’s Inspiring Health Update and New Charity Role After Cancer Battle
Sarah Beeny recently shared a health update and revealed her latest charitable endeavor, following her struggle with breast cancer.
53-year-old broadcaster received a breast cancer diagnosis in August 2022. Following this, she went through intense chemotherapy and underwent a double mastectomy. She was given the clean bill of health in 2023.
Sarah’s presenter mother for “The Property Ladder” had breast cancer that later affected her brain, leading to her death when Sarah was only ten years old. Similarly, Sarah’s stepmother succumbed to a brain tumor as well.
On Thursdays mornings, I tune into BBC Breakfast with uncontainable excitement, and last week, my heart skipped a beat when I heard the news – Sarah, my beloved idol, has taken on a new mission! She’s become a patron of Brain Tumour Research, and let me tell you, this dedicated fan is calling for even more research to follow her lead.
She expressed gratitude for her fortuitous health condition, as it was researched due to the unfortunate passing of loved ones such as her mother who passed away at a young age.
‘She won’t see her grandchildren, but she died so I can see mine.’

Sarah suggested, “It’s important that we allocate similar amounts of resources and energy into researching a cure for brain tumors as we have for breast cancer.
‘I’m not saying it’s always a good story, but it’s a lot better than it was 30 years ago.’
In April 2023, Sarah received a clean bill of health, and in June 2024, she shared her personal account of battling cancer through the release of her documentary titled “Sarah Beeny’s Battle with Cancer.” This film offers an insightful look into Sarah’s journey, including her double mastectomy.
Following her personal struggle with cancer, she proceeded to get genetic testing done to assess the potential cancer risks within her family.
During an interview, Sarah shared that she uncovered a genetic alteration within herself, increasing her susceptibility to contracting the specific disease.
In my professional opinion, after reviewing the test results, I found myself firmly resolved to opt for a double mastectomy instead of a single one. This was due to the fact that the genetic predisposition I carried gave me an equal chance of developing breast cancer again in the future on the side that had previously remained unaffected.
This implies that she has an equal likelihood of passing this particular gene onto each of her four children, namely Billy, Charlie, Rafferty, and Laurie.
Sarah found out that even though she didn’t have the BRCA1 or BRCA2 genes, she did have the PALB2 gene, which might have broader effects on her children and possible descendants in the future.

After the results of the test some of the star’s family members decided to also get tested.
She shared that her brother Diccon received a negative result, but her four sons have not been tested yet. Additionally, she informed her aunt and cousins about this situation as well.
Sarah shared: “I handed over the responsibility, they decide how to use it. It’s an individual choice, something that can be quite appealing to me but might not suit everyone else.
Sarah has lately shared insights into how she overcame obstacles during her cancer fight while maintaining her relationship with husband Graham.
Throughout the entirety of this journey, Sarah found unwavering support from her artist spouse, Graham (age 51), and their quartet of sons. However, in a recent conversation, she disclosed that the path was not always smooth-sailing.
The Property Ladder presenter shared that during her illness, Graham played a crucial role, providing unwavering support, yet he didn’t overstep boundaries by offering excessive help.
In an interview with OK! magazine, she shared that life and marriage come with challenges, not everything is smooth sailing. However, during her cancer battle, Graham proved to be just as wonderful as she had anticipated – truly great, demonstrating his goodness.

‘I don’t have a spouse who brings me tea on trays, I don’t possess a butler! However, I wouldn’t want such a person, finding it bothersome. When the situation required assistance, they provided it, making that one of those instances.’
The celebrity continued by expressing that she urged her spouse to share his feelings with others, since he was finding it hard to cope with the events that had transpired. She admitted that at that time, she felt there was no room in their relationship for him not to be resilient.
In our past exchange, I requested, “I understand that you may not always feel alright, yet could we avoid discussing that with each other? Instead, would you consider speaking to my sibling or another person about it?
He acknowledged his awareness, hinting at a conversation with your brother and others, indicating that given your limited space, he knew it wasn’t an option for him not to be fine.)
