Sarah Alexander’s Shocking Love Life: Divorced and Secrets of Her 40-Year Age Gap Romance!

The split between Peter Serafinowicz, known for his role in Amandaland, and his wife Sarah Alexander (who also starred in Coupling) has brought back recollections of Sarah’s past romantic history.

The split from the actor made news, as her partner was significantly older, over four decades.

Sarah, 54, was only 25 when she was first spotted dating Gerald Harper, then 68, in 1996.

In the 60s and 70s, he was a popular figure on television, recognized for his role as the sophisticated lead in Hadleigh, and prior to that, as Adam Adamant, a Victorian gentleman unexpectedly transported to 1960s London.

Initially, when a photographer took this photograph for a tabloid with a bold headline, it was published as “Flirtatious Senior Gentlemen” (with the other being notorious ladies’ man Peter Stringfellow).

A bystander shared with The Sunday People that Alexander and Harper appeared extremely close. They were frequently seen affectionately touching one another, seemingly unconcerned about who might be watching them.

Interestingly, the young woman was taking the lead and frequently pulled him towards her for a passionate French kiss – it was quite an enthusiastic show.

In the year 2000, when Sarah, who later gained fame on Coupling alongside Jack Davenport, decided to share a home with Harper in his spacious Notting Hill residence, it sparked curiosity among friends, particularly because she is eight years younger than Harper’s daughter, who shares the same name.

1) They chose not to let the difference in age affect them. Their companions reported that Harper was deeply saddened when Sarah left him for Serafinowicz in 2002.

2) Instead of letting their age difference be a barrier, they pushed through it. People close to Harper said he was heartbroken when Sarah chose Serafinowicz over him in 2002.

3) They made sure the age divide didn’t come between them. According to those who know him well, Harper felt devastated upon finding out that Sarah decided to be with Serafinowicz instead, in 2002.

During the peak of his popularity, Harper was known as the most sought-after single man on ITV’s Hadleigh show, which aired from 1969 to 1976.

He fit the role flawlessly as the refined, upper-class character, James Hadleigh – a rich, good-looking aristocrat residing in a grand estate in the West Riding, where he also managed the local news publication.

He told the Express in 2006: ‘There wasn’t that much to watch back then, so we had huge audiences.

Despite the senior executives at Yorkshire Television initially having doubts about Hadleigh, they decided to air it late at night instead.

Once they recognized their mistake, they offered an apology. Tearing up the agreement, I proposed, “How about we begin anew?

Beyond just receiving additional funds, I also acquired temporary ownership of a grand countryside manor, inclusive of staff, for an entire year. Living in such opulence was truly magnificent and lavish.

For about two decades, I was a television personality who largely set my own rules, and during that timeframe, there were very few days when I wasn’t working.

At the age of 94, Harper has consistently defied age limits, as evidenced by his adventure at the brink of his 75th birthday. He embarked on a thrilling journey to Kenya’s Masai Mara game reserve, traversing its vast expanse aboard a light aircraft and on horseback.

On the return leg, the plan crashed through a hedge and ended up on its side.

He remembered saying to the pilot, “Forget about the next destination, kind sir. Take me to Nairobi and civilization as soon as possible!” I’d had enough.

Previously attending Haileybury Public School, he initially aspired to be a physician. However, during his time serving in the military, he was bitten by the acting bug, eventually earning a spot at RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art).

Alexander has had an extensive career in comedy, featuring in shows like Green Wing, Smack the Pony, Armstrong and Miller, and The Worst Week of My Life.

Over two decades, I’ve been blessed to witness the beautiful journey of Serafinowicz and Alexander – a duo that melds like no other. Their union has produced not one but two marvels – a valiant son and a graceful daughter, who are the embodiment of their parents’ love and unity.

52-year-old Serafinowicz portrayed the vivacious South African beau, Johannes Van Der Velde, opposite Amanda, played by Lucy Punch in Amandaland. The show, which features social climbing themes, has received approval for a subsequent season.

The actor from Liverpool, known for providing the voice of Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace and Garthan Saal in Guardians Of The Galaxy, has been announced as the presenter of Million Dollar Secret, a show described as Netflix’s luxurious counterpart to The Traitors.

Serafinowicz, known for his self-titled comedy TV series, gained widespread acclaim for his impersonations, notably of Donald Trump, who he creatively rechristened with a flamboyant, trendy accent that went viral online.
