The 2013 film is showing on Film4 tonight, October 3rd, at 11:25 PM. After it airs on TV, you’ll also be able to stream it on Channel 4’s on-demand service.
In the movie How I Live Now, Ronan and George McKay star as the main characters, Daisy and Edmond. Tom Holland, known for his role as Spider-Man, and Harley Bird, who voices characters in Peppa Pig, play Edmond’s younger brothers, Isaac and Piper.

The drama, directed by Kevin Macdonald, has a 65% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 107 reviews, which were generally mixed. Reviewers highlighted the film’s suspenseful moments, and CinemaBlend called it a fresh and interesting take on a familiar story for young adults.
According to Digital Spy, the film starts like a typical teen romance, but this quickly changes with a disturbing nuclear blast. Director Macdonald skillfully uses sound and a washed-out visual style to build a truly frightening atmosphere.

According to RogerEbert.com, the movie is intensely gripping throughout, and the suspense really builds in the final act, becoming almost unbearably tense.
Toronto Star added: “It’s also a poignant love story, a compelling, against-all-odds one at that.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Saoirse Ronan is usually a compelling actress, but this film doesn’t showcase her at her best. The review describes her character as shifting from a moody teenager to a capable survivalist, largely due to the influence of a handsome hawk trainer.
