She’s a major Hollywood star who has been working for over thirty years. She’s won an Academy Award and still earns more than any other actress has for a single movie.
Since the heartbreaking loss of her partner, Bryan Randall, in August 2023, Sandra Bullock has largely stepped away from public life.
The 61-year-old movie star was in a relationship with photographer Bryan for eight years. Sadly, Bryan passed away at 57 after a three-year private struggle with ALS.
After receiving her diagnosis in 2020 and following his death, Sandra has appeared in public less often and withdrawn from public life to mourn and care for her two children.
Sandra Bullock is a mom to two children: a 16-year-old son named Louis and a 13-year-old daughter named Laila, whom she adopted as a single parent in 2010 and 2015.
She first encountered Bryan, who was working as a photographer after previously being a model, in January 2015. She’d hired him to photograph her son Louis’s birthday party.

This was the actress’s first significant relationship after her divorce from Jesse James in 2010, which occurred following revelations of his infidelity.
Sandra and Bryan quickly fell for each other and started dating. That August, he accompanied her to the wedding of her friend Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux.
The couple first appeared together as a pair in public in October 2015, walking the red carpet at the premiere of her film, Our Brand is Crisis.
Friends say Bryan and Sandra quickly became inseparable after that. He started joining her for work events like press tours and movie premieres, and he was often on set with her when she was filming on location.
During a 2021 appearance on Red Table Talk, Sandra called Bryan the ‘love of her life’ and praised him for being a positive role model for her kids.
Although they didn’t have a legal marriage, the couple had a private beach ceremony in the Bahamas in December 2017, where they exchanged vows with close friends and family present.
A new video from Daily Mail shows the couple dancing after their commitment ceremony. While not a legal marriage – no one officially married them and there was no officiant – they did share vows and express their love for each other.
A friend shared that the couple went through with the ceremony primarily for their children, wanting to make their commitment official and lasting. Afterwards, Louis and Laila began referring to Bryan as their dad.

The last time Bryan and his partner were seen together publicly, in July 2020, he was photographed looking lovingly at her as they arrived at a small get-together in Studio City with her two children.
That year, Bryan received the heartbreaking news that he had ALS, a rare and progressive disease that affects the nervous system and gradually causes muscle paralysis.
Around half of people with ALS live for about three years after their first symptoms appear, but some individuals can live much longer, even for decades.
Bryan kept his illness a secret and spent his last months at home in Beverly Hills with Sandra, avoiding public attention.
After receiving her diagnosis, the actress stepped back from public life to focus on caring for her partner. She quietly managed and paid for his full-time care.
The Daily Mail had reported that Bryan and Sandra seemed very close just before he died.
I was so surprised when Sandra Bullock announced she was stepping back from acting and her production work back in the summer of 2022, while she was promoting ‘The Lost City’. She just wanted to focus on being with her kids, and honestly, I completely understood and admired that. It was a really brave decision, and I’m happy she’s prioritizing her family.
She told the Hollywood Reporter that she was completely exhausted and didn’t know how long she needed to rest.

She explained she needed to prioritize her own well-being and couldn’t commit to anyone else’s timeline right now. She felt completely exhausted and admitted she wasn’t in a good headspace to make sound choices.
‘I just want to be 24/7 with my babies and my family. That’s where I’m gonna be for a while.’
It’s with a heavy heart that I share some incredibly sad news. The family of Bryan Randall has announced that he passed away peacefully on August 5th, after a courageous three-year fight with ALS. It’s a reminder to cherish every moment and appreciate the people we love.
Bryan decided early on to keep his battle with ALS private, and those who cared for him respected his wishes.
The family expressed deep gratitude for the dedicated doctors who guided them through this difficult illness, and for the incredible nurses who provided constant care, often putting their own families second to be with them.
We are heartbroken by Bryan’s passing and ask for privacy as we grieve and process this difficult loss.
The statement was signed off by ‘His Loving Family.’
After experiencing a painful loss, Sandra stepped back from acting to prioritize healing and focus on raising her children.
Nearly a year after Bryan passed away, a source close to Jennifer Aniston shared details about how she was dealing with the loss.

According to a source who spoke with People magazine, she is doing well and is a very happy mother, thanks to her wonderful children.
Her friends were a huge support throughout Bryan’s illness and after he passed away, and she’s incredibly thankful for their love and help in getting through everything.
The next month, the famous actress surprised viewers by appearing on the Today show. She shared a heartfelt video message celebrating her friend and the show’s host, Hoda Kotb’s, 60th birthday.
Oh my gosh, you guys, I was watching Sandra and she was just so real! She admitted she was feeling a little tired, but then she looked right into the camera and said turning 60 was ‘pretty damn great!’ And she said it from her gorgeous house here in LA, it was just…everything! She’s amazing, honestly. It felt like she was talking right to me.
She made a rare public appearance later that year, attending a Los Angeles Lakers game at the Crypto.com Arena in December.
Recently, the Academy Award-winning actress has been seen out in public more often, suggesting she’s preparing to return to a more public life.
Last November, Sandra was spotted driving around Los Angeles with Louis and their dog, Sweetie.
The next month, she was seen shopping with Louis and Laila, and later leaving a get-together with friends while carrying a box of pastries.

She reconnected with her old friend and Speed co-star, Keanu Reeves, in New York City just before Christmas.
Sandra went to see Keanu Reeves perform in a short-run Broadway revival of the play Waiting for Godot to show him her support.
Recently shared photos show the two actors smiling together backstage. They first worked together in the 1994 action movie, Speed, and this reunion came three decades later.
According to a source, the actress was exceptionally kind and friendly to everyone after the show. They also noted that watching her interact with Keanu Reeves felt like they hadn’t been apart at all.
After a break from filming, following the 2022 movie The Lost City, Sandra Bullock committed to two major projects last year, signaling her return to acting.
She’s landed a role in a new romantic thriller from Amazon MGM Studios, and she’ll be working with Keanu Reeves again! This will be their third project together, following their previous films, Speed and The Lake House.
Noah Oppenheim, who wrote ‘A House of Dynamite’ and ‘Jackie’, is writing the screenplay for the film, but the story is still being kept secret.

Sandra Bullock will not only reprise her role in a sequel to her 1998 movie, Practical Magic, but she’ll also produce it and star alongside Nicole Kidman once again.
Fans got their first glimpse of the upcoming movie in July when Nicole shared a video of her and her co-star hugging on set. The video, taken in a mock cemetery, was captioned: ‘The witches are back. First day for the Owens sisters! #PracticalMagic.’
Oh my gosh, the first movie? It’s based on Alice Hoffman’s incredible book, and it’s all about these two sisters, witches, who are just trying to live their lives, but they’re cursed! Basically, every man they fall for… well, let’s just say it doesn’t end well. They have to use all their magic to break it, it’s so heartbreaking and beautiful!
Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock are returning as sisters Gillian and Sally Owens in a new movie. Sources say the film will be based on a later book in the Practical Magic series.
