Samuel L. Jackson Teams Up With Taylor Sheridan for Tulsa King Spinoff Series

Actor Samuel L. Jackson, who’s much loved, will collaborate with Taylor Sheridan. Notably, Jackson has been chosen to spearhead the cast of a series that he himself stars in, and this project is an offshoot from another show created by Sheridan.

According to the latest reports, Jackson has joined the cast of an upcoming Paramount+ series called NOLA King. This series is being developed as a spin-off from Sylvester Stallone’s Tulsa King, which explains their similar titles. To establish the new show, Jackson will initially appear in several episodes of the forthcoming third season of Tulsa King. Following this, he will lead and produce NOLA King. Sheridan is also serving as an executive producer along with David Glasser from 101 Studios.

The spinoff is penned by Dave Erickson, who is also known for ‘Mayor of Kingstown’. It’s said that Jackson will portray Russell Lee Washington Jr., a character with ties to the criminal underworld similar to Stallone’s Dwight “The General” Manfredi. There are speculations that he will confront Dwight in Tulsa, and later move south to assume control of New Orleans. This aligns with earlier rumors about a spinoff being developed, but it was unclear at the time whether Jackson would be part of the cast.

Jackson will allegedly begin shooting scenes for Tulsa King in July, with NOLA King set to start production in February 2026. Erickson will oversee the new series as its showrunner, extending his collaboration with Sheridan’s television universe. He is currently the showrunner of Mayor of Kingstown and is anticipated to continue working on the Jeremy Renner-led series while also managing NOLA King.
