Sammy Winward’s daughter Mia Dunn tearfully claims she was ’emotionally neglected’ by her mother and saw her ‘for 10 minutes a day’ – after being ‘cut off’ by her parents for joining OnlyFans

Sammy Winward’s child, Mia Dunn, recently asserted a shocking statement, alleging that she experienced ’emotional neglect’ from her mother. This situation arose following a break in their relationship, which occurred when Mia chose to follow a professional path on the platform OnlyFans.

Last year, the 19-year-old model became a member of the mature content platform, which sparked disapproval from not only her parents but also former Blackburn Rovers footballer, David Dunn.

In an interview with The Sun, Mia shared that as a child, she often felt both lonely and restricted, with limited time to spend with her mother Sammy, who was frequently busy with her work on the Emmerdale set, resulting in encounters lasting only about 10 minutes each day.

Overwhelmed with emotion, she admitted, “Growing up, I was brought up by a teenage television actress… While my material needs were met, I can certainly say that I lacked emotional support.

Frequently, I experienced feelings of isolation, bullying, and a lack of autonomy – this encompassed decisions over my clothing choices, my speech in public settings, and above all, a lack of backing.

Occasionally, her decisions, particularly about boyfriends, made me feel anxious, and at times I felt an excessive burden on my shoulders.

Mia mentioned that she and her parents no longer communicate following her start on the adult platform, OnlyFans. She believes her mother’s response is inconsistent, considering her own past involvement in posing for men’s magazines while gaining popularity on a soap opera.

She stated: ‘I’m wondering, how is it possible for you to be unaccepting? When you were younger and shed your layers of sand, I was still present in your life, yet now, you seem to have cut me off entirely.’

In an interview, it came up that Mia grew up mostly under her grandmother’s care since her mother wasn’t around much.

She mentioned that her parents divorced while she was still a child, and later on, she encountered several of Sammy’s partners. Notably, one individual would verbally abuse her when she was only four years old.

At the age of sixteen, Mia disclosed that she grew tired of being under her mother’s control, which led her to make the decision to live with her father instead. This was despite the fact that they had been apart for a long time.

Grinning into the camera, she captioned the video: ‘The emotion I’m experiencing after 350,000 men contributed to purchasing a home for me in another country.’

Originally from Bolton, Mia now resides primarily in Toronto, Canada and Tulum, Mexico, producing adult content as her main occupation.

In March, she shared the astounding sum of money she had earned thus far, while marking her first anniversary on the platform.

Instead of boasting on Instagram, she proudly shared that she made an astounding $420,000 (equivalent to £322,725) in her first year, accompanied by a bold photo wearing a bikini and several provocative video clips.

Yet, Mia’s achievements have not been without consequences. Unfortunately, she is no longer in contact with her renowned kinship because of the contentious path she chose for her career.

Recently, she stated that the family dispute has hit an all-time low, asserting that her father David referred to her as a derogatory term and hung up on her after doing so.

As someone who deeply cares for our family bond, I find it hard to comprehend why there seems to be so much animosity directed towards me, given that we share the special connection as mother and daughter.

I understand they may not appreciate my work, but let me clarify, I am after all, a person with feelings. More importantly, I’m an individual who was born from my mother.

Mia further stated that her mother harbors envy towards her thriving profession, as they once held a strong relationship – with their joint appearance on Loose Women in 2021 and being referred to as virtually inseparable, much like sisters.

In a conversation with the publication, Mia (also known as Mia Kate Rose) shared: ‘The essential point about my mother is that she was quite young – only 18 – when she gave birth to me.’

It seems she might harbor some resentment towards me. Perhaps it’s because she feels a tinge of jealousy, seeing my success come so swiftly.

I believe the core of their problem lies in this: they seem to assume that my actions are merely a result of being their child, but in reality, I put in much more effort behind the scenes than one might expect.

Previously, I found myself in a challenging situation where Sammy seemed to be blocking my attempts to reach out, and unfortunately, other family members responded to my efforts with harmful words via calls and texts.

In August, she shared that her mother has cut off all communication with her, meaning she hasn’t received any messages from her at all.

She commented: ‘In truth, I don’t have any negative comments regarding any of them specifically. However, their reactions to the situation seem unthinkable to me when considering how I would react as a parent.’

Initially optimistic about reconciling with Sammy, Mia mentioned that she intended to keep some distance for now, allowing tempers to settle, and added that it would be her family who would extend the olive branch when they deemed it appropriate.

As an ardent admirer, I find myself in a predicament where it seems that my efforts at maintaining communication have fallen on deaf ears. Previously, I’ve attempted to reach out, only to be met with indifference. The response is often silence, followed by harsh words and abusive interactions, whether through phone calls, texts, or messages. It appears that the initiative must come from them now.

I plan to let them approach me instead, in a more composed way, since they might need some time to get acclimated to the entire scenario.
