Samantha Armytage’s shock reaction to the revelation that she left an ex-Sunrise producer ‘mortified’ when she sent ‘stern email’
As a devoted fan, I must say, I find myself utterly captivated by Samantha Armytage’s tale of a stern email gone awry. The intricacies of her professional life, as revealed through this anecdote, have only served to deepen my admiration for the woman who has graced our screens for so many mornings.
On a Friday, I found myself sharing my surprised response to a situation on social media, as I had inadvertently left one of the Sunrise producers utterly embarrassed following an intense email I sent.
Channel Seven television personality, aged 47, posted on Instagram what seemed like agreement with former digital producer Alexandria Funnell’s statement that an email sent by Armytage had allegedly made her feel embarrassed.
“Samantha recommended a fantastic podcast,” she said. “It offers great insights about the behind-the-scenes of Sunrise from the past.”

Armytage did not express her disagreement with any of the claims Funnell made.
After being reported, it was revealed that the former Sunrise star left a series producer in shock following an intense email she sent during her tenure on the morning program.
Armytage, who later disclosed her departure from the network, served as a co-host on Sunrise alongside David ‘Kochie’ Koch from 2013 until 2021.
Recently, former digital producer Alexandria Funnell shared on her That’s Showbiz Baby! podcast that she felt incredibly embarrassed after receiving an email from a television host.
Alexandria shared with her fellow host Jordy Lucas, a previous Neighbours actor, that she encountered a small problem with Sam Armytage which was quite distressing for her.
‘She’d done a story on… kindergarten kids. It was hilarious.’
Alexandria mentioned that she planned to publish her story on social media between 5 and 6 pm, which is considered peak hours, in order to maximize its visibility due to the algorithm’s functioning.
Instead, it was later disclosed that Samantha had grown angry earlier in the day upon finding out that her segment hadn’t yet been posted online.
Alexandria mentioned that Samantha seemed upset because she believed I had ignored the story, and to express this, Samantha sent me a strongly-worded email. Furthermore, Alexandria pointed out that Samantha also copied all her superiors on the email.
In a possible interpretation, the email might have said: “Hi Alex, it seems the article about the kindergarten children is still not published. Do you have a specific reason why this is so?”
‘We work very hard for these stories, and to see that these stories aren’t getting coverage online is incredibly disappointing. Can you please put it up ASAP?’
Alexandria expressed deep embarrassment when she read the email, acknowledging that she had hoped to win her approval.
Later on, Samantha expressed her apologies to Alexandria regarding the message, as the podcaster clarified to the media figure that the post was scheduled to go live during peak-time hours.
After the host of Farmer Wants A Wife took fans by surprise with her announcement that she was leaving Network Seven, this event occurred.
According to The Daily Telegraph, she chose not to accept a fresh agreement with Seven once her existing contract ends in October.
