Samantha Armytage has publicly addressed her recent and unexpected breakup with her former partner, businessman Richard Lavender.
I was so shocked to read in Stellar that Lisa and Richard *really* tried to make things work before their split last December. It’s just… heartbreaking, honestly. She said they did everything they could, and it still wasn’t enough. I’ve been following them for years, and I just can’t believe it’s over. It’s like losing a part of my week, you know?
Samantha started by saying she and her spouse tried to make their marriage work, but ultimately decided to move forward separately. She described the past year as a period of significant change and sadness.
The host of The Golden Bachelor explained that she and Richard didn’t make the decision to split up suddenly, and they both felt certain it was the right thing to do.
She explained that people don’t usually make the decision to end a marriage lightly. It’s something they consider carefully over time, not a sudden impulse.
‘We’ve all got these thoughts and fears and happy moments we share.’

Just before their four-year wedding anniversary, the couple announced they were separating.
They got married on New Year’s Eve in 2020 at Richard’s beautiful 40-hectare property in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales.
Sam confirmed to the media that she and Richard have separated. While breakups are always difficult, she said this one is easier because they parted ways amicably and still want the best for each other.
‘I appreciate you respecting our privacy. I won’t be making any further comment.’
Samantha has been unfollowed on Instagram by the two daughters of her ex-partner, a 62-year-old businessman who works with horses, but she and her ex still follow each other.
She has reportedly left the home she shared with Richard in the Southern Highlands and is now living in an apartment in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
Sam Armytage and Richard Lavender began dating in April 2019 and got engaged in June 2020. They were married six months after that, at his country home in New South Wales.
Photographer Abbie Melle captured a lovely scene of Sam and her husband holding hands as they walked around his property in the Southern Highlands, just after their wedding.

She shared a sweet photo taken right after their wedding, before the reception began, with the caption: ’11:58 am on a Thursday. We are so lucky!’
Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the wedding was a small, private ceremony. Richard’s daughters are thought to have been there.
In 2023, this experienced TV personality became the host of Farmer Wants A Wife, after initially joining the show as a guest host with Natalie Gruzlewski.
In August 2024, she shocked fans by announcing she was quitting Channel Seven after 21 years.
Describing the departure as ‘sad and bittersweet’, she said she felt her time had come to an end.
Sam has had a challenging time lately, but he’s excited to start his new role as the host of Nine’s upcoming reality dating show, The Golden Bachelor.
This show is a version of *The Bachelor*, but with a twist: the contestants are all dating after 50.
In February 2024, she lost her beloved dog Banjo while staying with her father near Wagga Wagga.
She posted photos of herself with her six-year-old Labrador, reminiscing about their happy times together.
