Samantha Armytage seems to have subtly criticized her former husband, Richard Lavender, who is a businessman in the equestrian world.
The 49-year-old Channel Nine presenter shared on Jessica Rowe’s Big Talk Show podcast that she’ll be more selective about future relationships.
The television host confessed she’s determined to make better choices in her romantic relationships this time around.
‘Discernment is my new middle name… I’m getting better as I get older at being discerning.’
Sam shared that dating is challenging when you’re famous, but she’s become more careful about choosing who she gets close to.
She explained that being well-known sometimes draws unwanted attention from people.

‘So you just have to be discerning, and I am now, and that’s good.’
This follows Sam’s recent interview with Stellar magazine, where she revealed she and Richard did everything they could to save their marriage before their December split.
Samantha started by saying that she and her spouse did try to make their marriage work, but ultimately decided to go their separate ways. She described the past year as a period of significant change and sadness.
The host of The Golden Bachelor explained that she and Richard didn’t make the decision to split up quickly, and they both felt good about their choice to go their separate ways.
She explained that people don’t usually make the decision to end a marriage lightly. It’s not something anyone does on a whim; it involves a lot of careful consideration.
‘We’ve all got these thoughts and fears and happy moments we share.’
Just before their four-year wedding anniversary, the couple announced they were separating.
Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe where they got married! It was New Year’s Eve, 2020, and they chose Richard’s incredible property in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales. It’s seriously stunning – 40 hectares of pure perfection! I’ve been following them for years, and this just feels…right. It was like something out of a dream.

It’s true, Richard and I have decided to go our separate ways. It’s never easy when a relationship ends, but thankfully, we’re parting on good terms and genuinely want the best for each other. That’s what I shared with the press when they asked.
‘I appreciate you respecting our privacy. I won’t be making any further comment.’
Samantha has been unfollowed on Instagram by the two daughters of the 62-year-old businessman she used to be married to, Sascha and Grace. However, she and her ex-husband still follow each other on the platform.
She has reportedly left Richard’s house in the Southern Highlands and is now living in an apartment in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
Sam Armytage and Richard Lavender began dating in April 2019 and got engaged in June 2020. They were married six months after that, at his country home in New South Wales.
Photographer Abbie Melle captured a sweet moment of Sam and her husband holding hands as they walked around his property in the Southern Highlands, just after their wedding.
She shared a sweet photo taken right after their wedding, before the party started, with the caption: ’11:58 am on a Thursday. We’re so lucky!’
Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the wedding was a small, private ceremony. Richard’s daughters are thought to have been there.
In 2023, this experienced TV personality took on the main hosting role for Farmer Wants A Wife, after initially joining the show as a guest host with Natalie Gruzlewski.
