Sam Wilson soars in first trailer for Captain America: Brave New World

As a long-time Marvel fan, I’m thrilled to finally have a trailer for “Captain America: Brave New World.” This movie holds significant meaning for me as it marks the first solo Captain America film since 2016 and the first without Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers. Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson has taken up the shield, but his tenure as Captain America is only beginning in this new adventure.

At long last, we have our first trailer for Captain America: Brave New World.

As a dedicated gamer of Marvel movies, I’m thrilled about the upcoming Captain America film. It marks not just the long-awaited solo outing for our beloved hero since “Captain America: Civil War” in 2016, but it also signifies a significant shift – Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, who handed over the shield to Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson in “Avengers: Endgame” in 2019, will no longer be leading the charge.

Wilson didn’t fully assume the mantle of Captain America until the climax of “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” on Disney+. However, this was only a hint of things to come. In “Captain America: Brave New World,” Wilson collaborates with (or serves under?) the newly inaugurated American president Thaddeus Ross.

As a dedicated Marvel gamer, I can tell you that Ross, who was previously known as the Secretary of State and the one who apprehended Sam and some Avengers after the happenings in “Captain America: Civil War,” is now being portrayed by the esteemed Harrison Ford. This marks his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, taking over from the late William Hurt.

As your new president, I’m excited about the prospect of making Captain America an official military role. However, I can understand Wilson’s reservations on this matter.

“And what if we disagree on how to manage a situation,” Wilson asks. “Then what happens?”

As a dedicated gamer, I’d rephrase it like this: In this game of global intrigue, unlike the usual Marvel heroics, I find myself unwittingly entangled in an international crisis. My friend and former super-soldier, Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbli), is under suspicion for being at the heart of it all.

Here’s a suggestion for paraphrasing that statement in a more conversational and clear way: “Despite the absence of typical superhero feats throughout the trailer, I was particularly struck by one scene near the end. In this moment, Wilson is reminded he isn’t Steve Rogers.”

“You’re correct, I’m incorrect,” Wilson retorts, and the trailer transitions to a scene where he soars through the sky with his Falcon jet-winged glider. In this segment, we witness our initial encounter with the ominous Red Hulk, setting the stage for an impending confrontation.

The trailer for “Captain America: Brave New World” appears to be an exciting and enjoyable action film, yet I have reservations about its profitability. The production of this Marvel production has faced numerous challenges, leading to costly reshoots estimated between $350-$375 million. Despite the potential for a fantastic movie, “Captain America: Brave New World” faces a significant struggle to recoup its expenses at the box office.

Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World soars into theaters on February 14, 2025.
