Sam Thompson Opens Up on Loneliness After Zara McDermott Moves On with Louis Tomlinson

On Thursday, Sam Thompson openly discussed the five stages of grief, following the news that his former partner, Zara McDermott, has started dating One Direction member Louis Tomlinson.

Back in December, I was absolutely thrilled when TopMob dished out the scoop about my beloved couple – the ex-Made In Chelsea star, aged 32, and the radiant Love Island sensation, who’s 28. Alas, it seems they called it quits after five years together!

On a recent episode of his “Staying Relevant” podcast, Sam confessed that he’s been experiencing loneliness since his unsuccessful relationship, as he shared his feelings with Paul Brunson.

During a casual conversation with fans, Sam addressed a question about dating after a long-term relationship. The person asked, “After splitting from my spouse of 20 years, how can I start dating again?

‘I feel like they’ve written this one for me’, he added. 

Sam shared that he’s been experiencing feelings such as anger, revulsion, and apprehension while transitioning away from his relationship with Zara.

He advised: “It’s important to spend moments reflecting on your emotions. You might find anger, disgust, fear, surprise, and happiness. I found it very beneficial.

Previously in the main episode, Paul advised that you might not want to rush outside right away if it’s just a month or so. Instead, take this time to get to know yourself better, learn self-love, and become comfortable being alone.

‘Eventually you will know when the time is right.’

In a heartfelt commendation, Paul acknowledged the ‘excellent response’ of the I’m A Celebrity winner, which led Sam to confess, “That’s my goal.

Paul indicated towards Sam as he said, “Being alone is one thing,” he retorted, “Pointing at me makes you an arrogant jerk.

Paul pointed out that while you mentioned being lonely, it’s quite different from being in a relationship and still feeling lonely.

In the course of our conversation, I too received valuable insights on establishing a thriving dating app, having apparently re-joined the exclusive platform, Raya – the go-to hub for celebrities and influential figures alike.

Paul, an expert in relationships for Tinder globally as well as a consultant for Married at First Sight UK, offered this advice: ‘It’s important to fill out your whole profile rather than just adding one picture and a brief description, which is a common practice among many men.’

In the second step, ensure to upload five pictures; include one close-up where you’re grinning naturally, as many individuals tend to post non-genuine smiles. Additionally, add a full-body shot.

Sam said, “This is big news, Pippa [his podcast producer]. Later on, I’d appreciate it if you could share a joke with me and snap a picture.

Paul went on: “‘Then, there’s my photography hobby,” Sam chimed in. “I’ve been quite into pottery lately, made Pete Wicks an ashtray last week that I should collect soon.”

It appears that despite Sam’s claim of being taken aback by Zara’s relationship with singer Louis, reports suggest he too may have been eager to start anew, as it has been alleged he’s currently using the dating app Raya.

According to The Sun, a fan allegedly spotted Sam on the dating app Raya last week, implying that he has returned to the dating world.

Before his encounter with Zara, Sam had previously created an account that he later reactivated following their separation.

Beyond my relentless pursuit of affection, I’ve been living up a storm! Not only that, but I’ve been hanging out with my mates in the buzzing district of Chelsea and my buddy, Pete Wicks, like there’s no tomorrow!

According to a source, Sam has been joking about his life post-breakup, which seems unusual for someone going through intense heartache. However, it appears that they have already come to terms with the situation and have been dealing with their sadness for quite some time.

‘Sam has been going out and having fun again, he’s not dating anyone but he’s been on dates. 

He spends a lot of time with the group at Chelsea and is often seen with Pete Wicks. At present, he is having a great time, yet he prefers not to commit or be bound by any long-term obligations.

Currently, Sam is taking a guys’ trip in Italy. However, he learned about Zara’s new relationship from her before the news became public knowledge.

On Monday, the romance between Zara and Louis became public knowledge as photos were taken by another diner at The Suffolk in Aldburgh, capturing the 28-year-old Love Island star and the 33-year-old singer sharing a romantic evening together.

The photos served as evidence supporting whispers about their relationship, which had initially been observed by observant One Direction fans. They spotted that Louis was following Zara on Instagram and had liked several of her posts.

Based on what Zara’s friends have shared, it seems that Louis has helped Zara regain a smile in her life, following her breakup with her long-term boyfriend Sam on New Year’s Day.

TopMob was informed by a friend that Zara appears very contented. It’s still the early stages for her relationship with Louis, but so far, things seem to be going smoothly between them.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’ve found myself in a situation where the blossoming of a romantic relationship between two individuals has been prematurely disclosed. Originally, our strategy was to maintain privacy and discretion as long as feasible. However, the cat is now out of the bag, and we are working diligently to keep personal aspects shrouded from curious onlookers.

‘Zara is enjoying being wined and dined and experiencing the thrill of dating someone new again. 

After spending numerous years with Sam, their bond eventually transformed into something more transactional… they seemed to have lost the magic between them. However, Louis has undeniably brought joy and cheerfulness back to her life.

Zara and Louis enjoyed a £100 meal consisting of fish and chips along with some cocktails, at a hotel in Suffolk that costs £315 per night.

The pair stayed at night and left for their respective London homes in the morning.

In January, it was disclosed that Zara had parted ways with her longtime companion Sam, following a relationship spanning five years.

They typically filmed their humorous TikTok videos from Sam’s residence in Fulham, where they both resided as a couple.

Even though Zara appears to be distressed and sorrowful, Sam harbors no resentment towards Louis for dating his previous companion, as she seems to have already left that situation behind.

In June, the duo might experience an uncomfortable meeting during Soccer Aid, since they are both part of the England team participating in the charity match against a combined global squad.

A source close to Sam told TopMob: ‘Sam has no hard feelings towards Louis, that’s for sure.

‘As far as he’s concerned, Louis is Zara’s new man and he’s just got to accept it.

As an ardent supporter, I can say that I too am one who embraces positivity and chooses to forge ahead from this situation. Instead of dwelling on it, I find solace in immersing myself in my work and diving headfirst into the captivating ventures that await me.

It was clear that the breakup left him feeling sad, and, just as with many others, finding out an ex is moving on swiftly can be challenging for him.

If he feels a mix of anger and despair, it’s certainly comprehensible. However, instead of dwelling on his sorrow, he’s actively moving away from self-pity.

Sam has yet to comment since Zara’s new romance was made public.
