Sam Thompson gives heartbreaking Soccer Aid update after suffering agonising injuries – ahead of planned encounter with ex Zara McDermott’s new man Louis Tomlinson

Sam Thompson shared an emotional message about his ability to participate in the Soccer Aid match this coming Sunday, following a series of painful setbacks.

Previously prominent Made In Chelsea cast member, aged 32, sustained a calf strain during the initial phase of his demanding 260-mile soccer event benefiting Unicef.

Now, Sam is worried that his legs might prevent him from playing in the football match, yet he maintained that he’s making every effort possible.

On Tuesday, he shared an update on Instagram, saying: “Working hard to perfect my soccer skills! Can’t wait to be involved [smiling face with laughter emoji]

Sam is all prepared for an embarrassing prearranged meeting with Zara McDermott’s current partner, Louis Tomlinson, during the Soccer Aid event.

I’m proud to announce that just like me, who recently supported UNICEF by completing a grueling five-day, 260-mile marathon last Friday, these men will also be part of the same England team that stands with UNICEF.

And while Sam has insisted there are ‘no hard feelings’, the encounter is bound to sting a little. 

Sam and Zara, a former contestant from Love Island who is now 28 years old, announced that they parted ways in January, ending their over five-year partnership.

In my expert opinion, I’ve found that moving forward swiftly is often key when starting a new relationship, much like how I’ve noticed Zara and Louis, both of us seeming to be deeply smitten, have been inseparable since the news of our budding romance broke in March.

They had a romantic vacation in Costa Rica as a couple, with Louis arranging for his new girlfriend to travel there on a first-class ticket first.

Meanwhile I’m A Celeb winner Sam has moved on with Love Island beauty Samie Eilshi, 25. 

Following the public confirmation of their romantic relationship with a passionate kiss in Mayfair last month, whispers of a breakup intensified when Samie failed to appear alongside Sam during his much-talked-about participation in Soccer Aid last week.

The rumors, once circulating, have now been debunked. Instead, it appears that their relationship is thriving, given that they enjoy each other’s company during their free time, as reported by a reliable source who is acquainted with the couple, to TopMob.

In a recent installment of their podcast “Staying Relevant” last month, Pete Wicks, aged 37, playfully hinted at an upcoming, possibly uncomfortable meeting between himself and Louis regarding some matter.

The TOWIE celebrity inquired of his fellow host, “It seems like you’re facing quite a challenge with your body transformation, diet, and intense workouts. Are these preparations for Soccer Aid?

Sam chuckled and confirmed that he was enjoying himself, yet clarified that he wasn’t particularly fond of the game at hand. However, Pete persisted by asking if Sam might have been mistaken about his dislike, as it could be for Soccer Aid instead. He inquired about Sam’s feelings and reminded him that he was back on the field again. Pete concluded by suggesting that the experience must be incredibly thrilling for Sam.

He added: ‘How do you feel about the line up? Do you think you’ve got a strong team?’

Awkwardly laughing, Sam replied: ‘Got a really strong team’.

However, without changing the topic, Pete inquired: ‘Are there any particular people inside that you’re excited to collaborate with?’

Sam chuckled, saying, ‘It’s Tom Grennan! I’m thrilled to perform with Wayne Rooney. Our manager is Tyson Fury – I can hardly wait!’

Pete said playfully, “That’ll certainly be fantastic! Remember to keep him as an ally since you might require his support if you have disagreements with others. It’s not expected, but it’s wise to have a backup just in case there are any disputes or rivalries.

‘It’s essential to work closely with someone, and it can involve a great deal, especially when space is limited. Conversations often veer into various topics.’

Sam and Louis will team up with celebrities such as Tyson Fury, Jill Scott, Grennan, and Paddy McGuinness on a high-profile team. Meanwhile, Wayne Rooney will come back from retirement to take on a managerial role.

It’s possible that Sam has additional free time to nurture his romantic connection with Samie, as they’ve just publicly disclosed their relationship for the first time.

Initially, Sam crossed paths with Samie during their tenure as presenters on Aftersun, with Samie having made an appearance on Love Island in 2023 and rejoining the All Stars edition this current year.

For the initial time, Samie discussed their budding relationship during a chat on the Chloe Mediumship podcast.

In this program, a spiritual guide serves as the host, and during the episode, the participant shares her experiences of having uneasy intuitions about past romantic partnerships.

She shared: “I’ve sensed intuitive hints with men previously. In a few past relationships, I’ve felt it wasn’t the right fit. It was as if I could feel deep down that this would not last, I’d have a sense each day that it was nearing its end, and it just wasn’t meant for me.

Initially, you chose to ignore it and subsequently found the disorder escalating around you. It felt as though the cosmos was warning you of impending destruction if you didn’t part ways soon. Later on, you might have thought, “If only I had heeded that initial warning I received months ago when I first read that message.

Afterward, Chloe inquired, “I understand if you don’t want to delve deep into it, but could I ask, does this person you’re conversing with now give you a sense of something promising? In other words, do you believe the interaction will turn out well?

Maintaining a secretive demeanor, the ex-Love Island participant responded: “At the moment, there’s nothing negative going on, so I guess everything is positive currently. It’s still the beginning stages.

At the beginning of the year, there were rumors about a potential relationship between Zara and Louis. They made their relationship official in March, which was three months following TopMob’s report that Zara and her former boyfriend Sam had ended their relationship.

Even though Sam was deeply hurt by Zara’s swift move to another relationship with Louis, it was made clear then that he bears no resentment towards Louis about it.

A source close to the star said: ‘Sam has no hard feelings towards Louis, that’s for sure.

‘As far as he’s concerned, Louis is Zara’s new man and he’s just got to accept it.

He’s an optimistic individual who tends to focus on the bright side and shift his attention towards his work, diving headfirst into the engaging tasks that lie ahead.

It’s clear that his heart was broken after the end of their relationship, and as with most people, seeing an ex move on swiftly can be challenging. Given the circumstances, feeling a mix of anger and despair is certainly reasonable.

‘But he’s not sitting around wallowing in self pity, far from it.’

For a period of five years, Zara and Sam were an item. However, their relationship came to an end towards the tail end of 2024, following Sam’s stint on the Australian version of “I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!” spinoff show titled “Unpacked.
