As an ardent fan of Sam Smith, I must say that their performance at the BBC Proms was nothing short of breathtaking! The classy red velour gown and the quick outfit change to a polka-dot suit were absolutely stunning. The soulful music and the mix of original and cover versions made for an unforgettable experience.

On Friday, Sam Smith put on an unforgettable show wearing a stunning red velvet dress while performing at the BBC Proms held at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The performance was deemed suitable for the event after the channel made it clear that it would align with the festival’s standards.

The 32-year-old performer has been involved in several debated performances lately and is frequently spotted donning outfits that are provocative and suggestive during live concerts.

Choosing a more subtle style, I donned a bespoke Vivienne Westwood creation from Andreas Kronthaler for the headlining concert, keeping things understated and elegant at 58 years old.

Previously strutting the runway for the brand during their Paris Fashion Week show in February, the artist poured their soul into performances of some of their top songs like “Lay Me Down.”

As a fashion enthusiast who has spent years scouring runways and boutiques for the perfect gown, I can confidently say that this stylish number truly stands out. With its bold red velvet asymmetrical neckline, dramatic layered silk skirt with an elegant train, and matching silk gloves, it exudes sophistication and style. The attention to detail and quality craftsmanship are evident in every stitch, making it a worthy addition to any wardrobe. This gown would be the pièce de résistance at any formal event, leaving a lasting impression on all who lay eyes upon it.

In the heat of the show, I decided to switch things up and donned a sleek, black polka-dot double-breasted suit for an instant style upgrade.

Sam teamed a long bow tie with the sensational suit and wore a plain white shirt underneath.

At the BBC Proms, featuring the BBC Concert Orchestra, we can expect a nostalgic revisit of Sam’s first studio album, In The Lonely Hour, marking its 10th anniversary since its release.

The performance was filled with soulful music and a mixture of Sam’s original and cover versions.

As a devoted admirer, I found myself immersed in an enchanting performance, where my voice was magnificently amplified by an emotional symphony of an orchestra and the harmonious 17-piece LJ Singers choir. This setup allowed me to present my raw talent unfiltered for all to appreciate.

During the entire program, Sam brought on a variety of guests, such as Joanna Eden – a vocal coach he had early in his career – and Clare Teal, who is recognized for her work in jazz music.

To conclude the performance, they chose “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” reminiscent of Judy Garland’s legendary 1961 show at Carnegie Hall, one of their all-time favorite vocal acts.

In 2019, Sam publicly identified as non-binary and requested that others use the pronouns “they” and “them” when referring to them instead of gendered pronouns (he/him or she/her).

After the controversially racy BRITs performance in 2023 that drew more than 100 complaints to Ofcom for alleged “devil worship” and an intense kiss, Sam gives a refined presentation next.

Sam sang the tune while donning a devilish costume, featuring horns protruding from their hat. This appearance, reminiscent of a controversial style seen at the Grammys a week prior, ignited criticism among viewers.

Last year’s Gloria tour drew criticism from some fans, who felt that the content was not suitable for younger viewers.

However, as previously stated by Sam Jackson, the director of Radio 3, Sam’s show for the Proms was deemed suitable. To clarify, he believes it will be a performance that aligns perfectly with the standards of the Proms and is fitting for the audience attending.

As a die-hard fan of Sam Smith, I can’t contain my excitement! This event promises to shine the spotlight solely on Sam and their extraordinary music. The unique orchestral arrangement is set to captivate us all, and let me tell you, this is an opportunity we UK fans shouldn’t miss! This year, it seems like we’ll be the lucky ones to witness the mesmerizing talent of Sam Smith right here in our own backyard – what a treat indeed!

As someone who has attended numerous proms throughout my high school years, I can confidently say that this event won’t resemble a Prom like the ones I remember. It won’t be Sam Smith performing at the Royal Albert Hall, but rather a more casual and relaxed atmosphere befitting of a festival. The attire, music, and overall vibe will have a distinctly different feel than the traditional formal dances I attended in my youth. However, I am excited to experience this new take on the classic Prom tradition!
