Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe share pics from Outlander's emotional last-ever table read

As a die-hard Outlander fan who has journeyed through time and space with Jamie and Claire for the past 11 years, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions as we approach the final season. It’s like saying goodbye to an old friend, or perhaps even a family member. The recent table read was a poignant reminder of the love, sweat, tears (and some blood), that went into every episode.

There is plenty of time left until the end, as we are yet to experience the second half of season 7 this year, but the eighth and concluding season of ‘Outlander’ is quickly approaching. Recently, the cast and crew gathered for their last table read, a poignant moment captured by many in photos. Let us begin with Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser), who expressed his sentiments succinctly: “Last reading. Last block. Last season.”

Caitriona Balfe, the actress portraying Jamie’s time-traveling spouse Claire, outdid Sam Heughan by creating a montage of photos and videos accompanied by music.

In this journey that spanned 11 years, 101 episodes, countless emotions, and even a few scrapes, Balfe penned her gratitude to the actors, writers, producers, and crew members who made it all happen. She didn’t forget to acknowledge the fans either. She expressed that it was an extraordinary adventure.

As Sophie Skelton, stepping into the role of Bree in Outlander, I recently shared a snap from outside Barnbougle Castle in magical Scotland – where we held our table read. If our series is all about the enchanting romance of 18th-century Scotland, it’s crucial to immerse ourselves in the right atmosphere!

After all these years, it’s me, a die-hard Outlander fan, sharing an emotional moment as Maril Davis, one of the show’s longtime executive producers, recently revealed on her Instagram post: “What a tearful day!” she penned. “Today was our last read-through for the final block of Outlander. Yes, tears were flowing (mine included), but at least we had Outlander tissues handy to dry those eyes. It’s hard to believe that our first official read-through was 11 years ago. The countdown to the end has officially begun.”

She’s not kidding about those Outlander hankies. Click the arrow on the right to see:

As a long-time fan of the show, I can hardly contain my excitement as we gear up for the second half of the seventh season! With over two years since the last episode aired, it feels like an eternity has passed, and I’ve been eagerly waiting to see how the story unfolds. Having grown up with this series, its characters have become an integral part of my life, and I can’t imagine not knowing what happens next. So, as November approaches, you can bet that I’ll be tuning in to Starz to witness the continuation of this epic journey!

Regardless of whether there’s a buffer zone or not, fans worldwide are undeniably feeling emotional as this long-running series, which has been on for 11 years, comes to an end. Such longevity is a rarity and deserves recognition. Fortunately, Starz is working on an Outlander prequel series titled Blood of My Blood to keep the fun going after the original show concludes. Remarkably, the first season of the prequel will even air before the final season of Outlander, offering some assistance during what promises to be a challenging transition.
