Sam Fender’s On-Stage Outburst: Apology After Technical Glitches at Big Weekend Show
At BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend Show over the weekend, Sam Fender took an oath during his performance, only for his highly anticipated main act to be interrupted by some unexpected technical issues.
On the Saturday night, the Geordie musician, aged 31, took center stage at the live concert in Liverpool, wrapping up the evening with a shower of confetti and bursts of fireworks.
Even though he impressed everyone with his powerful singing, there was a moment when Sam got flustered. This was confirmed when someone nearby told TopMob that Sam apologized to the audience following some unexpected technical problems.
Among Sam’s collection were well-loved songs such as “Seventeen Going Under” and “Hypersonic Missiles,” which prompted fans to cheer loudly until the end of the evening.
According to a source, there was an electric atmosphere when Sam took the stage for the headlining act, with the energy heightened after performances by Ed Sheeran and the Sugababes earlier in the day.

However, during the initial tunes, Sam encountered several technical issues. He fiddled with his microphone stand for multiple songs, and at times, he seemed uncomfortable, glancing off-stage awkwardly.
Sam expressed regret to his fans about the issues that arose and openly confessed that he was quite nervous, even terrified, during the massive performance.
‘However he powered through and put on an incredible performance.’
At the same gathering, Ed Sheeran unexpectedly took the stage to perform a fresh composition that seemed to be influenced by his high-profile $100 million copyright lawsuit.
After being involved in a legal dispute about his popular song “Thinking Out Loud”, the artist later penned the composition following a revisit of his older phone.
He had been accused of copying Marvin Gaye’s Let’s Get It On but was cleared in court in 2023.
Presently, Ed stepped onto the stage at the Liverpool festival, where he shared the story behind his latest track “Old Phone,” and then gave its premiere live performance to an eager audience for the very first time.

Speaking to the audience, he explained, “The court has instructed me to hand over my old gadgets to the legal team so they can scrutinize my text messages, emails, images, and other personal data.
In the course of this, I activated a phone that I hadn’t touched in a decade, and it felt like peering into history, as I encountered old conversations with individuals who are no longer with us.
He went on to say: ‘I had disputes with an old girlfriend, there were texts and photos from individuals I hadn’t interacted with in a decade, and I composed a song titled “Old Phone” about that experience.’
The news about Ed’s performance was revealed mere moments prior, taking everyone by surprise when he suddenly appeared on stage unannounced.
He shared with his followers that he decided to take the stage for the New Music Performance Area as it was the only venue where he hadn’t performed before.
According to an insider from Big Weekend, TopMob was informed that Ed made an unexpected appearance during the opening act on Saturday afternoon, and the crowd rushed towards the stage more swiftly than ever before at a festival.
‘He played a number of his hits and also included some of his new songs which the crowd the loved.
In simpler terms, Ed shared the significance of his latest track as it delves into his personal experience with the court case, and discovering an old phone served as its inspiration.
When Azizam began, he initially struggled with his signature loop, but he regrouped, corrected himself, and informed the audience, “That’s a testament to the fact that I’m performing live.
