Sam Elliott’s Charming Grocery Run with Katharine Ross: A True Hollywood Love Story!

In a seldom-seen public appearance, longtime Hollywood actor Sam Elliott and his wife Katharine Ross were seen doing their weekly shopping in Los Angeles, giving us a peek at their resilient 41-year union.

The duo was captured enjoying a sweet, private moment following a visit to the supermarket chain, Gelson’s, which is close to their residence in Thousand Oaks.

80-year-old Elliott, famous for his rugged demeanor and unique deep tone, was seen in high spirits and moving energetically as he wheeled a grocery-laden cart towards his parked vehicle, according to exclusive DailyMail.com images.

He had a relaxed appearance, wearing a white long-sleeved shirt, gray trousers, and sneakers. His distinctive mustache was prominently visible.

However, he demonstrated his traditional gentlemanly manners as he was spotted putting the bags into their black Range Rover, all while Katharine patiently waited in the front seat.

In 2019, the renowned actor who received an Oscar nomination for his performance in “A Star Is Born” has been wedded to Ross, aged 85, since 1984. They celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in May of the previous year.

In a beautiful turn of events, they got married following their romantic connection on the set of the 1978 movie “The Legacy”. Since then, their relationship has been one of the most enduring and prosperous love tales in the realm of Hollywood.

Before getting married to Elliott, it is worth noting that Ross had previously been married and divorced four times, with each marriage being relatively brief. In 1967, he was even nominated for an Academy Award for his portrayal of Elaine, Mrs. Robinson’s daughter, in the film The Graduate.

Despite being married for the fifth time, her union remains resilient over time, weathering the storms of Hollywood and standing tall as robustly as it did initially.

The couple has been based in LA ever since and have one daughter, Cleo, now 40.

Elliott earned acclaim after playing a key part in the 1976 drama “Lifeguard,” subsequently becoming known for his work as a character actor. However, his career experienced a revival in 2015 when he starred regularly on the Netflix series “The Ranch.

In more recent times, he played the rugged character of Shea Brennan, a cowboy from the 1800s, in the prequel to the popular Paramount+ series Yellowstone titled 1883.

In the limited series that only had one season, he played a role which earned him a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award for Exceptional Performance by a Male Actor in a Miniseries or Television Movie in 2023, besting Evan Peters who was widely anticipated to win due to his powerful performance in Dahmer on Netflix.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I must share an intriguing turn of events: my recent victory has sparked quite a stir on social media platforms. Angry fans are expressing their disapproval, claiming that I was not the rightful recipient of the award, and they have been quick to highlight Elliott’s contentious comments about the 2021 western romance film, The Power of the Dog. This debate certainly adds a new dimension to the world of entertainment!

During his interview on the WTF podcast with Marc Maron on February 28, 2022, Elliott expressed strong opinions about a western drama movie he had worked on, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst, and Jesse Plemons. As a result, he found himself in a heated debate or disagreement.

He described the movie as a “shoddy production” with “subtle hints of homosexuality,” further comparing the cowboy characters, dressed in chaps and without shirts, to Chippendale’s performers who wear “bow ties and minimal clothing.

Additionally, Elliott raised doubts about whether Jane Campion, the New Zealand director who recently earned her second Academy Award for the film, had the necessary credentials to create a movie within that particular genre.

‘What the f*** does this woman from down there know about the American West?’ he said.

67-year-old Campion retorted to Elliott’s statements during an interview with Deadline in Los Angeles, stating that the actor made a triple whammy of misogynistic, xenophobic, and homophobic comments regarding her movie.

‘I think it’s really unfortunate and sad for him,’ Campion told the outlet.

I find that unpleasant. I believe he was acting rather rudely. Not to mention, he’s an actor, not a real cowboy.”

Or

“That’s not my taste. To me, he seemed quite rude. And just so you know, he’s an actor, not a genuine cowboy.

Later on, Elliott publicly expressed his regret by stating: “I praised Jane Campion as an exceptional director to the WTF podcast, and I feel compelled to apologize to the entire cast of ‘The Power of the Dog,’ who are all superb actors. Specifically, I wish to extend my apologies to Benedict Cumberbatch.

‘I can only say that I’m sorry and I am. I am,’ he added.

Elliott initially appeared in bit parts in western films like The Way West (1967) and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid during the late 60s, but it was only in the 80s that his acting career really took flight with notable roles in The Mask and Road House.

In a different role, he got his initial Golden Globe nomination for TV movie “Conagher.” There, he took on the leading character and acted alongside Ross.

Apart from that, Elliott boasts two Emmy award nominations during prime-time programming. He’s equally recognized for his roles in movies like Gettysburg and The Big Lebowski, as well as being a recurring character on the Netflix show, The Ranch.
