Sam Burgess cuts a dapper figure as he attends NRL Hall of Fame honours in Sydney while fiancée Lucy watches from England
As a dedicated follower of rugby league and a connoisseur of style, I must say that Sam Burgess’ appearance at the NRL Hall of Fame Awards was nothing short of dashing. The man knows how to make an entrance, and his sartorial choices are always on point. His classic black velvet dinner jacket with a peak lapel, paired with a pleated white formal shirt and black bow tie, was a perfect blend of elegance and rugged charm.
On Wednesday, Sam Burgess made a stylish impression as he walked out at the Sydney Cricket Ground for the NRL Hall of Fame Awards ceremony.
Sam, being one of the 17 individuals inducted into the Hall of Fame, chose not to bring his fiancée, Lucy Graham, who stayed back in England to watch the ceremony on TV.
Sam displayed an elegant flair in a timeless, black velvet dinner jacket featuring a peak lapel, giving the impression of sophistication.
He completed his appearance with a crisp, pleated white formal shirt and a sleek black bow tie, coupled with black trousers and polished leather shoes.
Sam added an extra touch of panache with a white pocket square and a silver stainless steel watch.
Sporting a hint of stubble, Sam kept his hair cropped short at the back and sides.
Later in the evening, Sam proudly donned the official grey NRL Hall of Fame jacket.
Though it seemed like he went to the event alone, Greg Inglis gladly joined Sam for a picture at the photograph booth with him.
The pair seemed overjoyed, almost radiant, when showing off their dazzling diamond-studded Hall of Fame rings.
Greg beamed widely, standing beside Sam, whose rugged look was accentuated by a patchy beard and a clean white shirt paired with a black tie. Over this outfit, he wore the jacket from his Hall of Fame induction.
Though Lucy Graham, Sam’s fiancée, didn’t show up at the event, she joyfully watched everything happen from their home in the United Kingdom instead.
Lucy took to her Instagram story on Wednesday to share a sweet snap of daughter Robbie, 11 months.
Robbie looked cute as a button sitting on the lounge room floor.
She seemed occupied with a lilac coloured ribbon that was tied around her head.
The photo also showed a television screen in the corner that displayed the NRL Hall of Fame logo, suggesting that Lucy was glued to the screen watching her beau at the glittering event.
Sam is the first-ever English international to be inducted into the NRL Hall of Fame.
2014 saw the star player of the rugby league team, South Sydney Rabbitohs, guide them to victory despite suffering a broken cheekbone early on during the match.
More recently, Lucy posted an old photo from 15 years ago on her Instagram story. This picture featured herself along with her future partner, ex-Leeds rugby league player Ewan Dowes, his spouse Amy, and a group of friends, enjoying a night out together.
Lucy and Sam have known each other for over 20 years.
The image was coupled with a more recent snap of the friendly foursome and captioned simply with ’15 years later’.
Last June, I, a die-hard Rabbitohs fan, found myself in a state of exhilaration, for the very player who once donned the Rabbitohs jersey, popped the question to my beloved Lucy – a mere nine months since we’d made our romance public!
He previously revealed he was extremely nervous when he asked the Leeds hairdresser to marry him.
Last September, Lucy and Sam joyously introduced their newborn daughter, Robbie, to the world, sharing the exciting news on Channel Seven’s morning show, Sunrise.
