It’s been announced that Alison Oliver is now part of the cast in Emerald Fennell’s take on the novel ‘Wuthering Heights’. The film stars Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi.
In this upcoming movie, Oliver will work alongside Fennell and Elordi again, as they previously acted together in Fennell’s 2023 success “Saltburn,” where Elordi was portrayed as Oliver’s on-screen sibling. Notably, the psychological thriller is being produced by LuckyChap Entertainment, which is also funding this fresh take on Emily Brontë’s timeless novel.
In a nutshell, “Wuthering Heights” is about two households residing on the windswept moors of West Yorkshire, where the complex bond between Catherine Earnshaw and her adopted brother, Heathcliff, serves as the main focus. The roles of Cathy and Heathcliff will be portrayed by Robbie and Elordi, respectively.
As reported by Deadline, Oliver is set to portray Isabella Linton, a well-off neighbor of the pair, who ultimately weds Heathcliff.
This article additionally reveals that actor Shazad Latif from Magpie has been chosen for the role of Edgar Linton, Isabella’s brother who ultimately marries Cathy. Meanwhile, The Night Agent’s lead actress Hong Chau will portray Nelly Dean, the film’s main storyteller.
Next year, it’s planned that Fennell will pen, oversee, and be responsible for the production of a feature film right here in the UK.
In simple terms, “Wuthering Heights” is set to be the third project that Fennell works on with LuckyChap Entertainment, a company co-founded by Robbie, her husband Tom Ackerley, and Josey McNamara.
Previously, the film production team was responsible for creating Fennell’s 2020 suspenseful movie “Promising Young Woman,” headlined by Carey Mulligan, as well as last year’s film “Saltburn,” featuring actors Elordi and Barry Keoghan.
The classic novel “Wuthering Heights” has undergone numerous television and cinema interpretations, the latest being a 2011 film directed by Andrea Arnold featuring Kaya Scodelario from the show “Skins,” who played the lead role alongside James Howson.
In 2022, a film about Emily Brontë, starring Emma Mackey from Sex Education, was released. The movie aimed to explore the unknown factors that fueled the author’s groundbreaking work, as her brief and secluded existence has left biographers puzzled for years.
