
HBO’s Like Water for Chocolate is now a streaming success. Viewers have been watching all episodes of the series since the finale became available.
According to FlixPatrol, Like Water for Chocolate is now the sixth most popular show on HBO Max in the U.S. The film is also performing well internationally, reaching the top spot in Mexico and number four in Romania. It’s currently a top 10 hit in several other countries too, including Chile, France, Italy, Portugal, and Turkey.

Like Water for Chocolate is a critically acclaimed film. It has a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and audiences overwhelmingly love it too, giving it a score of 92%.
This series is produced by Ventanarosa Productions, with Hayek Pinault as an executive producer. It’s based on Laura Esquivel’s 1989 novel, which was also made into a film in 1992. The new HBO version stars Azul Guaita as Tita, Andres Baida as Pedro, and Irene Azuela as Mama Elena.
Tita and Pedro are passionately in love, but strict family traditions keep them apart. Forced to choose between her family’s expectations and following her heart, Tita finds solace and a unique power in the kitchen, where she expresses herself through the magic of cooking and flavor.
The second season follows Tita as she finds a potential new path with Dr. Brown, but her feelings for Pedro are rekindled, creating a forbidden and passionate connection. Set against a turbulent and changing Mexico, the characters grapple with past hurts, losses, and hidden truths, forcing them to consider how far they’ll go for love and independence. Season 2 Delivers a Satisfying Conclusion
According to Hayek Pinault, the second season will focus on significant development for several characters, especially Tita. She also expressed excitement about continuing the partnership with Max and Endemol, describing the upcoming season as a captivating and emotional ride with both dramatic and romantic moments, and she’s eager for viewers to see how the story ends.
The final season will feature Irene Azuela, Ana Valeria Becerril, Andrea Chaparro, Ángeles Cruz, Mauricio García Lozano, Ari Brickman, and Louis David Horné joining the cast. Alongside executive producer Salma Hayek Pinault, José Tamez, Siobhan Flynn, Sharon Levy, Lisa Fahrenholt, Flavio Morales, Alejandro Rincón, Clara Machado, and Jerry Rodríguez will also executive produce. Rodríguez is also the showrunner for the series.
