Sally Field, 77, returns to social media after being inspired by presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris

As a devoted fan of Sally Field, I can’t help but be moved by her recent return to social media and her unwavering support for Vice President Kamala Harris. With a career spanning over five decades, Sally has consistently used her platform to advocate for women’s rights, environmental issues, and justice. Her activism, from her early days on Gidget to her recent arrest during Jane Fonda’s climate change protests, is nothing short of inspiring.

Sally Field has re-emerged on social media, finding inspiration from the presidential campaign led by Vice President Kamala Harris.

Last week, I proudly shared on my Instagram account the momentous occasion of my dear friend, Kamala Harris, formally accepting the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination for the 2024 U.S. election. This historic milestone was punctuated by her eloquent speech at the Democratic National Convention. As a lifestyle expert and keen observer of current events, I find myself continually inspired by her unwavering commitment to service and leadership.

As a conscientious follower, I’ve steered clear of social media ever since it turned into a platform for our ex-president, who we all know wasn’t exactly an angel. However, optimism seems to be on the rise once more. Here I am, making my return. This is me, and this is my loyal companion, Dash. Fasten your seatbelts! Sally posted this with two pictures featuring her dear dog, Dash.

In her second update, Field posted a picture of herself positioned before a TV screen, where Harris was being nominated.

In a post for her approximately 5,000 followers, Field expressed that ‘Hope is present. It’s in this very room with me and my freshly-registered-to-vote grandson who’s 18 years old. I’m shouting my joy from the tallest peak I can reach.’

“Cast your vote for the future of our nation, for the welfare of our children and grandchildren, for the protection of our planet, women’s rights, and human rights. Vote for democracy. I urge you to support Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in this election. (And I promise to be a great friend to you),” she concluded with a hopeful sentiment.

Field after the 2016 election slammed Donald Trump, 78, for his lack of experience and hypocrisy.

In simpler terms, she stated on Chelsea Handler’s Netflix show, ‘His track record shows no indication of him carrying out even a single promise he makes.’

‘He has shown to be everything that he accuses and has accused Hillary Clinton of being. It is now evident he is all of those things, every single thing that he accused her of,’ she added.

Field was recognized with an Academy Award for Best Actress, receiving this honor for her performances in the films ‘Norma Rae’ (1979) and ‘Places in the Heart’ (1984).

In 2012, I was honored with an Oscar nomination in the Best Supporting Actress category for my portrayal of Mary Todd Lincoln in the film Lincoln – a role that truly captivated me.

As a champion for fairness and equality, I find myself often harkening back to the powerful portrayal of Norma Rae in the movie bearing her name. This character was a tireless advocate for workers’ rights, particularly those in factories, fighting relentlessly for union protection. Over the years, she has utilized her platform to champion women’s rights, standing as an inspiring figure who continues to encourage and empower countless individuals.

In the year 2019, she got apprehended during the climate change demonstrations led by Jane Fonda in Washington, D.C.

Among her cinematic achievements are roles in Forrest Gump, Steel Magnolias, Smokey and the Bandit, Mrs. Doubtfire, the Spiderman series, and the upcoming 2023 sports comedy titled “80 for Brady.”

Field was honored at the 2019 Kennedy Center Honors in Washington D.C.
