SAG Award 2026 nominations announced

The Actors Awards – formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild Awards – have revealed the nominees for their 2026 ceremony.

On Wednesday, the list was revealed with some surprises on it.

 

The award for Outstanding Female Actor went to one of these nominees: Claire Danes, Erin Doherty, Sarah Snook, Christine Tremarco, or Michelle Williams.

Several other actors and shows were also nominated for awards, including Jean Smart (Hacks), Ariana Grande, Adam Brody, Noah Wylie, Ted Danson (The White Lotus), Keri Russell, Seth Rogen, Benicio Del Toro (The Studio), Martin Short, and the series Only Murders In The Building.

As a lifestyle expert, I was excited to see the nominations for the 32nd annual awards announced! It was a fun reveal hosted by Janelle James of Abbott Elementary and Connor Storrie from Heated Rivalry over on the Netflix YouTube channel. SAG-AFTRA president Sean Astin kicked things off with a great intro, setting the stage for the big news.

The Actor Awards will be held in Los Angeles on March 1st and will be available to watch live on Netflix. While last year’s host was Kristen Bell, the host for the 2026 ceremony hasn’t been named yet.

Harrison Ford will receive the 2026 SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award.

The Actor Awards, voted on by the 160,000+ members of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, offer a good indication of which performances are favored by actors – the largest group within the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences – during awards season.

As a huge movie fan, I’m already predicting some of the films that will be nominated! I’m really hoping to see titles like One Battle After Another, Sinners, and even a new take on Frankenstein get some recognition. I’ve also heard amazing things about Hamnet, Marty Supreme, and Train Dreams. And honestly, I’m incredibly curious about Bugonia, Jay Kelly, Blue Moon, If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, Song Sung Blue, Sentimental Value, The Secret Agent, and of course, Weapons and Wicked: For Good – they all sound fantastic and deserve a chance!

The shows potentially up for awards on television include Abbott Elementary, Adolescence, The Beast in Me, The Bear, Hacks, Nobody Wants This, The Pitt, Severance, The Studio, and Pluribus.

On November 14, 2025, the awards show celebrating great performances in movies and TV officially changed its name from the Screen Actors Guild Awards to simply the Actor Awards.

The celebration will proceed as usual, and the award statue will still be called The Actor.

In a joint statement released on November 14, Jon Brockett, the showrunner and executive producer, and JoBeth Williams, chair of SAG-AFTRA’s Awards Committee, explained that they aimed to make the show’s purpose more easily understood by viewers both in the US and around the world.

We celebrate performers in movies and TV. Deciding to specifically recognize achievements in those two areas felt like the most direct and understandable way to move forward with the show.

The award’s logo and statue have always been known as ‘The Actor,’ and we felt it was time to formally recognize that with its official name.

However, there will be no change to the award show itself, which is still presented by SAG-AFTRA.

The show is simply getting a new name. Everything else will stay the same – it will continue to be a celebration of actors by actors.

They acknowledged that people will likely continue calling the awards the ‘SAG Awards,’ and both past winners and viewers are welcome to do so. They understand it will take time for everyone to get used to the new name.

We’ve always aimed to make sure every performer we represent is clearly recognized worldwide, and we believe our new name will help us achieve that.
