There’s a lot of buzz about Sadie Sink potentially joining the cast of Spider-Man 4: Brand New Day. Recent rumors and leaked plot points suggest her character could have ties to the X-Men, though Marvel hasn’t confirmed anything yet.
Is Sadie Sink really playing Jean Grey in Spider-Man 4?
A fan named MyTimeToShineHello noticed similarities between Sadie Sink’s character in the show and the X-Men’s Jean Grey. They pointed out the character’s yellow and green outfit, comparable powers, and pursuit by Damage Control as evidence. However, this is just an educated guess based on what’s been seen so far, not official confirmation.
Rumors started circulating about Sadie Sink potentially joining the cast of Spider-Man: Brand New Day when Jeff Sneider reported she’d be playing Jean Grey. While some people questioned the report at first, it’s recently gained traction again.
Daniel Richtman says the character played by Sink will have the ability to control minds. According to Alex Perez, this character supposedly uses these powers in the movie to manipulate the guards at the DODC, ultimately helping Scorpion escape from prison. This is similar to the powers of Jean Grey in Marvel comics, who is famous for her telepathy and ability to move things with her mind.
According to reports, the Department of Damage Control is actively pursuing Sink’s character in the film. This is part of a bigger story where Damage Control, following the events of Avengers: Secret Wars, begins targeting mutants. They might even use technology originally developed by Tony Stark to create Sentinels.
There was initial speculation that Rebecca Ferguson would play the villain Shathra, but recent reports indicate that was a deliberate attempt to mislead fans. Now, with her likely role in Avengers: Secret Wars confirmed, many believe she’ll be playing a mutant character who appeared in films before the upcoming X-Men reboot.
Destin Daniel Cretton directed the upcoming Spider-Man film, written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The movie stars Tom Holland, Sadie Sink, Zendaya, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo, and is set to hit theaters on July 31, 2026.
